PRINCIPALS WELCOME MESSAGEI have had a wonderful start to KariongPublic School and been made to feel verywelcome by everyone, especially thestudents. I am very much looking forward toworking with everyone here over the nextfew months.
Kariong is a very busy place with lots ofexciting excursions and events planned for
the Term. I am extremely excited to be here I look forward tomeeting many families over the next few months and getting toknow the wonderful families at Kariong.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Kindergarten Orientation 2019
Our Kindergarten Orientation was held on Wednesday 24October. All our new Kindergarten parents attended an
information session in the hall while students had theopportunity to experience and engage in activities in ourKindergarten classrooms. The students also had theopportunity to meet their buddy in Year 4. Thank you to MrsDowney for her organisation of this event. A special thank youto the P&C for providing the morning tea.
Anti –Racism Contact Officers ARCO
Last term Mrs Rayner, Mrs Hoyle and Mrs Roberts completedARCO training. The ARCO is the central point of contact forcomplaints of racism. They record complaints and resolutionmethods, and maintain all data in line with the policy guidelines.The ARCO is an impartial facilitator, not an advocate forstudents, parents or community members. The ARCO has 4main functions and assists the Principal in promotinganti-racism education; mediation, procedural, educational andmonitoring. As part of their ARCO role these teachers arerevising the KPS Anti-Racism Policy.

Sport and Extra Curricula Photos
On Friday 19 October Master School Photography MSP tookphotographs of our sporting teams and extra curricula specialgroups. These groups of students have represented our schoolat different locations around the Coast and performed at RazzleDazzle. When the photos have been printed from MSP parentswill be given the opportunity to come and look at the photosand order any photos that they would like to purchase. Weanticipate the photos will be ready to view in approximately 4weeks.
Kindergarten Grandparents’ Day
On Friday 30 October, Grandparents of our Kindergartenstudents have been invited to the school. Grandparents will bemeeting in the hall at 2pm and then visiting classrooms. It is veryspecial to acknowledge the significance of generational familyinterest and support, as this has a huge impact on studentlearning and wellbeing.
K-2 sports Day postponed
Unfortunately the K-2 Sports Day that was scheduled for todayhad to be postponed as the oval was too wet. The new date willbe Friday 16 November. All K-2 students should have receiveda note with the updated information.
Enrolling or Leaving?
NSW Public Schools are provided with teachers and staff onan age-based differential formula. Once the Principal entersanticipated numbers of students, Staffing will allocate a setnumber of teachers, SLSOs, School Administrative Staff,Counsellor etc.
Thank you to parents who have already informed the schoolthat their child is leaving us or commencing at our school nextyear. It is extremely important that numbers are as accurateas possible so correct classes can be formed and teachersappointed to start at the beginning of the school year.
Please make sure that you inform the office as soon as possibleif you are NOT returning to Kariong Public School in 2019 or ifyou are going to be away at the beginning of the 2019 schoolyear. (Current Year 6 students do not need to let us know). Ifyou know of anyone who is enrolling a new child at our schoolnext year, would you please ask them to contact the schooloffice to collect enrolment forms?

YEAR 6 MINI FETEThe annual Year 6 Mini Fete is on next week. BookBook thisthis datedateintointo youryour diarydiary Friday,Friday, 22 November.November. The purpose of the feteis to raise money for the Year 6 Farewell and to purchase agift for the school. The students are very excited to be sharinga range of games, activities and products with the rest of theschool. Students will be required to bring money on this dayso they can participate in the festivities. There will be a rangeof stalls that vary in price from as low as 50c. We will haveold favourites such as ‘The Haunted House’, ‘Apple Dunking’
and ‘Face Painting’. We also have a large variety of food anddrink options. Be sure to send your children with money in a ziplocked bag on the day so they can join in the fun!
