PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
The Senior Choir and Taiko Group are performing tonight in the 49th Oxfam Music Festival for Schools being held at the Box Hill Town Hall. This annual event is another wonderful opportunity for the students involved to showcase their talents in a performance setting. I am sure that the students will once again be outstanding ambassadors for our school and their performances will be thoroughly enjoyed by those in attendance. Mrs Odou does an excellent job in preparing the students with regular rehearsals and training, giving them every opportunity to perform at their best. At Assembly last Monday, the students who have been involved in the Student 2 Student program this year were acknowledged by Mrs Williams. The school has been involved in this program for 14 years, which has been the longest contribution that any primary school throughout Australia has made to the program since its inception. This program involves students reading stories to another child over the phone and is coordinated by the Smith Family. Mrs Williams has been a passionate advocate of the program and she has ensured that a large number of the school’s senior students have been involved in it each year. Due to changes in technology and a shift in focus for the program, primary age students will no longer be participating. The program will continue on with secondary age students only. I would like to acknowledge the work that Mrs Williams has carried out for many years to give our students the opportunity to be involved and have such a positive impact on the lives of the children that they read to. Thank you also to the following students for their contribution and commitment to the program this year; Hanson Q, Ashley K, Chloe M, Wil L, Georgia G, Audrey W, Rosa D, Maddy D, Demi P, Jack S, Allie L, Alex B and Ollie D. During Assembly we were also entertained with some wonderful musical performances. The Recorder and Percussion Ensemble played a piece titled, Walkin’ The Buzz. Kieran L (1S) gave a wonderful solo performance on the violin (accompanied on the piano by Vivien) and the Prep students sang the Seekers song, Morning Town Ride, beautifully. Congratulations to all of the students involved for these performances. Some members of the school’s Chess Club were also acknowledged at Assembly. Trophies were presented in two categories, Rookies and Masters Competition, to the following students. Rookies Competition

Masters Competition
