Dear Parents and Carers, It’s hard to believe we’re half way through a very busy term. We have spent the week having fun with science as part of Science Week. The theme was “Destination Moon: More Missions, More Science” and Tania Behan has planned many opportunities to experiment and explore. It’s been great to our student being young scientists. Thank you to all those parents who completed the Parent Opinion Survey. The response rate has not been quite as good as we would like and the online Parent Opinion Survey completion date has been extended to Sunday 18 August 2019. Your feedback is important and assists us to move forward as a school so I urge you to complete the survey before 18th August if you haven’t done so already. The month of August is important as we take the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work and the contribution of our Education Support Staff to the school. They make a difference in classrooms, the administration, ICT, Allied Health and of course the amazing Café 11. The school community acknowledges a great group of workers who so committed to our students. It has been brought to our attention that some parents may not know how to access Compass for Student ILP’s and Reports. Parents are also able to use the Compass platform to check attendance and provide the school with notification of an absence. The school newsletter is available on the Compass News Feed. We would like to use Compass for Excursion Notices and Permissions and Parent payments down the track so it’s important everybody knows how to access it. It you don’t yet know, please contact the school and we can assist with this. If you need a password or a password reset please contact your child’s classroom teacher. It was good to see parents come along to the ‘Parenting in the Digital World’ workshop last night. It provided some excellent insights into the online world, social media and cyber safety. Thanks to the Connect Team from the Alannah & Madeline Foundation for delivering the workshop. Again a big thank you to all the staff who have been on the recent camps. They have all been hugely successful despite some cold and bleak weather and the students have all had lots of fun exploring Anglesea and Blackwood. I take this opportunity to thank the Finance Sub Committee and the School Council for the excellent work they do for the school. It is greatly appreciated. Remember to save the date for the Father’s Day Pie Night on Wednesday 28th August at the main campus hall. A flyer is attached in the newsletter. WPS is committed to the wellbeing of all students in a child safe environment

It’s a safety issue!A message for parents and carers of students at

the main campus:

We ask that the WPS community please avoid parking in or across our neighbours’ driveways

as a matter of safey and courtesy.

In addition, there is NO admittance of cars to the school grounds after 2:45pm.

This is critical to the safe movement of student onto the buses.

Parking is available across the road at the IGA carpark.

Your cooperation is appreciated
