YR 5/6 SCIENCE EXCURSION—MT ERIN S COLLEGE On Monday, our Yr 5/6 Students attended Mt Erin Secondary College to experience a Science lesson in their laboratory. Science is highly regarded at FHPS with our specialist program running from P-6 and providing a comprehensive Science education for all of our students. Extending upon our primary program, the Senior students experienced what it’s like to be a ‘scientist’ exploring materials, using microscopes, wearing lab coats and conducting experiments. The following email was sent to our school praising our students for their outstanding behaviour and application during this excursion. Secondary School Transition Coordinator’s Testimonial: Thanks again for bringing your classes to Mount Erin today. We had so much fun with each group and found your students to be really wonderful to work with. They were engaged, well-mannered and on task each and every time we asked them to be They are a real credit to your school and we look forward to having some of them here next year too!! Perhaps some budding Forensic Scientists of the future!
Congratulations to all of our Yr 5/6 Students for conducting themselves so positively. Thank you to all teachers for supporting this enrichment opportunity. WORKING BEE THANK YOU I wish to thank the parents and students who freely volunteered their time and effort at the school on Friday for the Working Bee. Many tasks were completed such as: preparing garden beds for planting, sweeping pathways, weeding, pruning and spreading soil and mulch. The small team of parents worked solidly to beautify the school’s grounds and garden areas. Our school looked pristine after the clean up. Thank you to the hardworking team for the labour around the school, which was sincerely appreciated. ITALIAN DAY– THURSDAY 3 AUGUST Mrs Colavecchio is planning an interesting full day program for all students and teachers as part of our Italian Day celebrations. Cultural, creative and artistic activities will operate across the day, with all children experiencing an Italian performance, Arts/ Crafts, Italian sports and games, including a special Italian luncheon. We are all looking forward to a fun-filled day. 100 DAYS OF PREP– MONDAY 31 JULY I can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by for all of our students and especially our Preps, who will be celebrating 100 days at school on Monday 31 July. This is a significant milestone for our Prep children. I look forward to seeing their excited faces as they join in with their special celebrations to commemorate 100 days at school. I hope all families have a wonderful weekend. Kind Regards, Mrs Clark Principal Frankston Heights Primary School

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
A message from the Assistant Principal.
OUR MAJOR FUNDRAISING EVENT IS COMING UP SOON!
FRANKSTON HEIGHTS TRIVIA NIGHT
Saturday 26th August 7.30pm.
Dear parents, After the amazing support you gave us for our fair last year, we would really appreciate support for our Trivia Night. It is a FUN SOCIAL Night. Notices went out last week. We look forward to you booking a seat or table for this major event. BYO drinks, nibbles, friends and laughter. All monies raised will go towards the continued improvement of our amazing school!
RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS
On our Pupil Free Day last Wednesday, our teachers were involved in a Professional Development day with Respectful Relationships Consultant Kristy Lang. The day included looking at the Victorian Curriculum learning materials for Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships. Topics covered were for social and emotional learning and developing positive respectful relationships across the school.
SCHOOL UNIFORM BLITZ. Frankston Heights Primary School is committed to students wearing their school uniform with pride. We believe school uniform is a vital part of developing and maintaining our high standards. Wearing school uniform correctly is important because it represents the pride and respect we have for our school and more importantly for ourselves. Attention to personal presentation develops habits of self-discipline and responsibility which are skills essential in a 21st Century education. Many students have been wearing different bomber jackets, coloured stockings and incorrect shoes. Please ensure your child is wearing correct uniform to school.
ALL BLACK SHOES Just a little reminder to everyone that our uniform policy permits only all black shoes. This means that the shoes must have a black sole, black laces and no colour stripes or logos. Enjoy your weekend! Jodi Craig
Visitors and Parent Helpers
It is wonderful to see so many of our
parents, grandparents, family members and friends helping in our classrooms and around our school grounds. We
would like to remind you that all visitors including classroom helpers must
report to the school office to sign in and collect a white lanyard before heading to their child’s classroom.
These lanyards are helpful for students to identify our school helpers/visitors
and also contain important information regarding emergency procedures. We thank you for your cooperation in this and also thank you for your time and effort in assisting at our school, it is
greatly appreciated.
