Over the past few months during our meetings, the teachers and Joe have done a remarkable job of communicating the ever changing Covid response plan. We have talked at great length about the challenges from all sides. In these times we can all agree there is not one right solution or model. Given that, SAC is incredibly proud and supportive of Joe and his team for putting together a strong digital model while continuing to implement a hybrid model, no easy task. We would like to ask the community to continue to be supportive of Joe and team. We want to showcase our successes, and over the coming months you will see more updates from SAC. Miki Greenlee and Joanie Mason Ruud have taken the time to share how digital learning and the hybrid model are working in their families. Thank you for your continued support. - Amanda Cornell, SAC Chair “I am grateful for the opportunity my 2 nd grader can attend limited in-person learning as I see significant benefits for my son from those hours. I know that Joe and our staff have gone above and beyond in taking all safety precautions--thank you! My son is much more excited for school now that he can be with his teacher and friends, and I see his motivation carry over into the digital aspects as well. The social/emotional benefits of seeing his teacher and peers extend beyond the hours he is at school, and he is happier, more confident, and enthusiastic about school. I want to acknowledge the tremendous effort and energy from our incredible teachers and express my gratitude for this opportunity for our younger Holy Family students.” - Miki Greenlee “As a parent of a HFCS 8 th grader, I want to express my gratitude to the middle school team. Since last March, they have excelled at adapting to online learning. Their intentional efforts are this school year. The ELA is engaging, science is hands-on, religion is meaningful, math is individualized and fun, and social studies is relevant and thought provoking. Despite sitting in front of a screen, 8 th graders are learning in creative, new ways. I am confident the 8 th graders will be prepared to thrive in high school next year. In addition to providing academic excellence, the staff is working so hard to keep some of the beloved HFCS traditions in place: Reading Buddies, Service Opportunities, OBOB, Leadership, Lunch Bunch, etc. It warms my heart to hear my daughter giggle while playing “Among Us” with Mrs. D, Mr. Cornell and fellow middle schoolers at lunch time. Above all else, the teachers are accessible and concerned with the well-being of each child. I am grateful that, at this challenging time, my child is blessed with these caring, dedicated educators and this supportive community.” - Joanie Mason Ruud @holyfamilypdx This week, we celebrate Thanksgiving.
