Term 3 Vacation Term 3 is rapidly drawing to a close, with next week the final week of Term. School closes at the end of the school day on Friday 23rd September. Term 4 commences for staff on Monday 10th October—children do not attend this day. Children commence school on Tuesday 11th October. I wish all members of our school community a safe and relaxing Term 3 vacation period, and I look forward to sharing a very busy Term 4 with you. Staffing Changes A number of staffing changes will be occurring for Term 4. Ms Anderson will return from Long Service Leave at the commencement of Week 2 Term 4, resuming her role in the Deputy Principal position. Mr Snelling will be returning to his full time position in our Performing Arts program. Ms Bunny returns from her Long Service Leave and will resume in Room 17. Mrs Bowles will be taking Long Service Leave during Term4. She will be replaced by Mrs Jones (Monday—Wednesday) and Mrs Murray (Thursday and Friday). Carnivals Term 4 is Athletics time, and a number of carnivals will be held during the term. The full list of carnivals is as follows: Early Years Carnival - Pre Primary to Year 3 - Tuesday 18th October (1/2 day only) Primary Carnival - Year 4 to Year 6 - Friday 21st October Interschool Jumps & Throws - Year 4 to Year 6 - Tuesday 8th November Interschool Carnival - Year 4 to Year 6 - Friday 11th November Further information about all of these carnivals will be issued early next term. Parent helpers are required to assist in the canteen for the two carnivals on the 18th and the 21st October. If you are able to assist, please see Mrs Jones in the canteen. Children and Social Media: It has come to our attention that an increasing number of students who attend our school have set up, or have had set up for them by parents, social media accounts such as Instagram, Facebook, and SnapChat. This is of significant concern, as no Primary Aged child is permitted by law to have a social media account , other than those that we use and approve at the school . These approved accounts include Edmodo and Showbie, which are closed accounts and are managed and monitored by the classroom teachers. Instagram, Facebook and SnapChat accounts (and others as outlined over the page) have a minimum age restriction, and Primary School aged children are simply too young to deal with the content they are likely to encounter on these sites. Parents are asked to ensure that their child does not set up a Social Media Account, or that they do not set an account up for them, until they are the appropriate age; as not only is this an illegal activity, it also exposes their child to potentially significant on-line risks. A guide, provided by linneyville.com has been attached over the page, which provides information for Parents on what the age restrictions for Social Media Platforms are, that we are all required to adhere to. Please take note of this guide, and invest in the time to talk to your child about the information it contains and the reasons why the age restrictions for Social Media Accounts exist. Hello my name is Lewdon and recently I went to New York City America for baseball – I played for the Perth Heat Colts and it was a great experience. After the 30hr flight from Perth to Sydney to Los Angeles to New York, my mum and I were taken to a hotel called LaQuinta which was a really nice hotel. The next day mum and I went to sporting shop. On the way to Danberry we also went to other fascinating places like Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets and New York Yankees stadiums. I also went on the New York Subway to go to Grand Central Station. On some of the first couple days we had no games so the team went out to explore New York. On those days my mum and I went to Time Square, Niagara Falls and the Captain America Statue in Brooklyn. Then the team gathered and met back at the hotel to go to our next hotel which was in Cooperstown were the first ever baseball hall of fame is. The first day the entire team went to the hall of fame, it was amazing. Now on to baseball, in New York I played about 24 games and they were really hard because out of 24 my team won about 7 games, which was still really cool. One

of the team highlights was in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania my entire team was on television. And what was really cool is on that day I hit a grand slam homerun out of the ballpark. I had an amazing trip and it is one the best experiences of my life…so far!

Dampier Positive Behaviour Celebration Last Thursday the students from Dampier Faction celebrated their good behaviours with a Faction Free Dress day.
