Monday 6 th July 2020 – Year Two – Reading - Elm Class and Larch Class Today, we are going to be pattern detectives and identify the rhyming words in the story. Rhyming words are two words that sound similar.

Ugliest is a describing word to describe something unpleasant or repulsive in appearance. Interesting is a describing word to describe something that catches your attention. Offend means to cause upset or to annoy someone. Clumsy is awkward in movement or in handling things.

ExplainYesterday, identified four new words that we found the meaning of.

The other creatures were horrible to Monty and said that he was the ugliest sea creature.

Monty found the shells at the bottom of the ocean to be interesting.

Monty was offended by the jellyfish telling him to go away.

Monty was a little bit clumsy and accidently dropped the shell.

A summary is a short paragraph of information that explains what has happened in the story. It sets out the main parts of the story.
