Purpose and Aims
The aims of my primary research are as follows, to gain information first hand from my target audiences about their needs and wants from a new music magazine and to gather ideas that would compliment the magazine and make it as successful as possible.
Audience Profiling
From the questionnaire results I can see that my target audience are aged between 16 and 20 years of age and are mainly male, I can also notice that they are mainly students with part time work so I know that they will have a small disposable income.

Personal Preferences
The results show that the best gift to put on a first issue would be a free CD as it would entice the target audience the most, they also show that the magazine cover should follow the influences of ‘Q’ or ‘Kerrang’ and stick with the colour scheme closest to those magazines

The results from my focus group and open questionnaire questions show that the magazines that where chosen for the most aesthetically appealing where chosen because of the colour schemes, layout of the pages, main pictures and editing used. They also talk about the preferred colour scheme, they state that it is the best because it respectively matches the genre and yet stands out.
The other results show that the majority of my target audiences hobbies are music related, state that the magazine should be released fortnightly and gig reviews should be the main article, this matches my predictions and reinforces other points.

Conclusion
Although stated in my presentation From these findings I have confirmed that my target audience are aged 16-20 and are interested in music and partake in musical activities as hobbies.
I can also see that my target audience would pay around the £2.50 mark for a new magazine and would pick up ‘Q’ or ‘Kerrang’ magazines off the shelves in respected shops such as WH smiths.
The Results show that the best partner item in hand with a music magazine for this genre would be free CDs and that the magazines should have a similar image to ‘Q’ or ‘Kerrang’.
Proposals
What I propose to do with the new music magazine after collating and understanding the results from my primary research are to sell the magazine at the price of £2.50 in stores such as WH Smiths, I also have decided to aim it at very up to date current music of the alternative genre to keep 16-20 year olds interested.
I will make the image of the magazine similar to ‘Q’ or ‘Kerrang’ Magazines and compliment the magazine with gifts such as Free CD’s as suggested by the questionnaire and focus group results in order to receive the best possible reception by my target audience.
