We receive day old chicks flown in from Iowa, my sis- ter and I keep them for around 42 days until they reach market weight, which is 5 ½ to 6 ½ pounds. I am sixteen years old and a sophomore at Bret Harte High School. Ever since I was seven years old, I have had a passion for anything that involves horses. God has blessed me to be able to own a horse, and is a goal of mine to pursue a career in the animal field. I am 18 years old and have spent the last six years showing pigs, goats, and horses at the Calaveras County Fair in 4-H and FFA. I absolutely love seeing all the kids showing at their projects at fair and seeing the involvement of kids with the community. Showing at the fair has exposed me to many wonderful opportunities, including watch- ing past Calaveras Saddle Queen Competitions and winning Equine Grand Champion last year, which encouraged me to run for this competition. Showing projects at the Calaveras County fair has opened up my horizons and my choice of career path with animals as a Veterinary Technician. Hello my name is Cassidy Davis. When I am not riding my horse or branding I like to play basketball, volleyball and soft- ball. I am running for Calaveras Saddle Queen because I wish to represent Calaveras County to the best of my ability and become a role model for young girls who love to ride as much as I do. Hello, my name is Natalie Harp. I am an eighteen year old senior attending Calaveras High School. After high school, I plan on going to college, then to Vet school to become a veterinarian. I got my first horse when I was ten years old. Since then, I have competed in many western events. I have showed my horses and other animals at the county fair for many years. I watched the Saddle Queen competition every year, and last year, I got the privilege to compete. The competition helped me to grow as an individual and I was inspired to go at it again this year.
