Do you know what movie

Girl ldquoI didnrsquot send you a
Christmas card [boyrsquos name]rdquo
Boy ldquoDonrsquot you know sar-

It is one of my favorite
Christmas movies and it just
doesnrsquot feel like Christmas
without seeing it first After
that everything is downhill
to Christmas
Before we get down to

some time to donate or help

the holidays This ranges
from our four-legged
friends to a local charity or
family in need You would
be surprised how every little
bit helps no matter how
small you think the item
might be
The first item of business
is to remind all our chapter
members that ARMA Inter-

us that it will have a new
look and feel that will bring
easier navigation and easier
access to tools to improve
and expand your
knowledge They have asked
us to remind you to watch
for your new member login
Once the new site is
launched you will no longer
use your e-mail address as
your username for your
MyARMA account Donrsquot
forget to look further down
in our newsletter for what
to do in order to prep for
the new website and making
sure your member profile
information is up to date
Now letrsquos do some recap-
ping of our November
chapter meeting Our
friends in the Marketing and
Business Development De-
partment at Trihydro Cor-
poration provided us with a
handy-dandy guide to using
social media in your profes-
sional life and for any or-
ganization or group They
provided us with guidance
on how to set up an account
and manage our social me-
dia to get the most out of it
If you missed the Novem-

Trihydro team of fers social media best practices during November chapter meeting
The regular monthly chap-ter meeting of the Wyoming Chapter of ARMA was held on Tuesday Nov 14 at the Wyoming State Library Presi-dent Carolynn Coy began the meeting by playing the begin-ning of the ARMA Web Ses-sion of the Month Social Business Assessment from ARMA LIVE 2013 Confer-ence Web Seminar
Below is a brief overview of the beginning segment
For individuals out-of-date social media ac-counts are not as critical but for organizations they can be riskier if you donrsquot know what ac-counts are out there you canrsquot apply retentionRM methods to the data and may have out-of-date dataincorrect infor-mation
Identify accounts by ask-ing people (internal re-view) external review (search social media sites and search engines) con-ducting surveys (anonymous may provide better results) and setting up alerts for new rogue account discovery
Vet and validate all found accounts
Reasons to use social media in support of busi-ness objectives include better customer service product development and community engage-ment Organizations should recognize social media as a reality and try to manage the risk and
opportunities involved
Following the web ses-sion Coy introduced guest speakers Jeff McDonald and Isabel Perez from Trihydrorsquos Business Development amp Marketing Department Tri-hydro is an engineering and consulting firm founded in Laramie
The presenters noted that social media is a powerful professional tool for building relationships networking marketing and recruiting however they acknowledge different tools are better for different services and organi-zations
McDonald offered the fol-lowing tips for managing an organizational social media presence
Be sure to add basic or-ganizational information
Manage content so it stays active and relevant
Frequency of posting should depend on how
much quality content you have to sharemdashyou may post some content on one site versus another
You can use social media tools for notification and post analytics (which can be useful metrics for boardsmanagement)
Perezrsquos presentation fo-cused on social media tools She advised that imagery can be used to grab peoplersquos at-tention and that varied im-agery is the best however the same images can be used across the page to increase consistency
In order to manage an or-ganizationrsquos various social media accounts there are platform managers available Perez recommended Hoot-suite which allows the user to schedule and manage posts to all social media accounts from one site
According to Perez Can-vacom is a free tool that can
be used to develop social me-dia content It even includes post templates
Tips were also provided by Perez on decommissioning social media accounts De-pending on the platform she said the account could be merged with another active account Often times the social media account will re-quire the account manager to have enough information to prove that this is your compa-nyrsquos account in order to can-cel it
No matter what the organi-zation is posting however McDonald and Perez stressed that the accounts manager must be aware that nothing disappears Content that is posted is a reflection of self and the organization and there is no confidential infor-mation online Proofreading prior to posting is a must
Following the presenta-tions the guest speakers an-swered group questions

This is a new monthly event

focused on strategies for
building membership includ-

rals and industry events) and
connecting with local schools
Coy asked board members
if they had a chance to view

Trihydro Corporation uses various social media websites including their Facebook
page pictured above to communicate with the public Members of Trihydrorsquos Busi-
ness Development amp Marketing Department Jeff McDonald and Isabel Perez were
guest speakers at Wyoming ARMArsquos November chapter meeting on social media
