Dear Neighbors,

Spring is finally here and summer is just around the corner.

The neighborhood landscaping is starting to perk up. We will

be adding a few new items to spruce up the entries.

As most of you are aware the PID renewal, (more about it later

in the newsletter), is coming. You will hear and see a lot of

information about it. I encourage you to discuss the PID with

your neighbors and your PHA board. If you have any questions

don’t hesitate to send them to your board. If we don’t know the

answer we will find it. We look forward to seeing you at the

annual PID/Board meeting May10th at Brentfield Intermediate

Elementary.

We had a great turnout for the Creek clean-up. This year we

added an educational component to the clean-up and look

forward to expanding the program throughout the

neighborhood.

Notes on the individual Incidents:

1/14– Report of unauthorized use of motor vehicle at 6004 Warm Mist. Complainant was working on a pool and left his work truck in the driveway unlocked with keys in ignition. A Latin 30 year old male

got in the truck and backed it into a fence. The suspect then got out of the truck and ran off.

1/23– The PID officer observed 2 juveniles looking over a fence at 16400 Shadybank. The officer detained the suspects and later learned that they had committed a BMV of a nearby work truck. The

suspects had just been sent home early from Park Hill Middle School for disciplinary reasons.

2/13– BMV reported at 16322 Red Cedar. Vehicle was left unlocked, laptop computer and garage

door opener taken.

2/20– Vandalism reported at 6629 Coolglen. Car was egged and scratched while parked on the street

overnight.

2/23– Theft of check from mailbox reported at 6448 Embers.

Each month, several open garages reported along with one open front door and open car door.

3/2/17– BMV offense reported at 6306 Pineview. Complainant states his LoveField ID Badge was tak-en from his unlocked vehicle while parked overnight. Complainant found the badge the next day on

another vehicle parked in his driveway.

3/30/17– Theft of pool cleaner reported at 16114 Red Cedar. The suspect entered the back yard over-

night through an unlocked gate.

What is a PID and why is it

important to Prestonwood?

The Prestonwood Public Improvement District (PPID) was first established in 1997 and renewed in 2004 and 2011. The

Prestonwood area consists of approximately 1,031 residential properties. The Prestonwood Homeowners Association

manages the PID. The general nature of the service and improvements provided by the PID are to enhance security and

other security related improvement and other activities that are approved by the Dallas City Council. The PID is managed by

the Prestonwood Homeowners Association, a voluntary homeowners association.

The current PID term runs until December 31, 2018 with annual budget and assessment rate subject to a public hearing and

City Council approval.

The 2016 assessment rate for the property in the Prestonwood PID was $0.08250 per $100.00 of value. Assessments will be

carried out in accordance with procedures stipulated in Chapter 372 of the Texas Local Government Code.

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO US?

Our PID funds are earmarked for public safety and provide the money needed for our 24/7 Dallas police patrol cars and

rapid response from uniformed Dallas police officers. This is unique to Prestonwood and has helped to keep our crime stats

very low and made our neighborhood an attractive option with high values. We will be communicating about our PID renewal

throughout this year and next as it is coming up soon and is an essential part of making our neighborhood great! Learn

WHAT: Congregation Beth Torah’s Men’s Club invites you to

bring your old tax records, private documents, personal files,

letters from your exes and anything else that nobody should ever

see again. FREE recycling and shredding event where you can

watch the shredding truck destroy those old papers. They’ll also

take any electronics you’d like to recycle. Donations gratefully

accepted.

not belong in BULKY TRASH.

Richardson ISD Clothes Closet Located nearby at 970 Security Row, Richardson, TX 75081, this clothes closet allows children attending Richardson ISD schools who qualify based on need to shop. They are assisted by a volunteer and leave with a week’s worth of clothing including new pair of sneakers, a winter coat, toiletry bag and new sets of underwear and socks. You can drop off clean, in like-new condition and currently in fashion items on Mondays between 9:30am -11am. You can also volunteer to help either on Mondays with sorting donations or on Tuesdays with students who have appointments between 9:30am -2:30 pm. Each spring they also hold a Prom Dress Boutique, making the Prom special for teens who need assistance with dresses, shoes, and accessories. The annual Shoe-Shoe Train stocks the closet with new shoes each February. To learn more, contact your school Clothes Closet representative, or send an email to [email protected].

When students feel good about the way they are dressed then they can more easily focus on learning, growing and succeeding. The RISD Council of PTAs and its 54 member units are committed to helping students (pre-k through high school) in financially challenging situations gain clothing that they can comfortably and proudly wear. They operate solely on clothing and monetary donations from our school’s families and community. They are staffed exclusively by volunteers. RISD generously provides their department store like facility with 4 dressing rooms.
