    Absolute Pressure Transducers

    Current output transmitters for measuringpressure with an absolute reference. Absolutereferenced pressure transmitters generate a 4mAoutput signal when the pressure corresponds to a

    perfect vacuum. An absolute pressure transmitteris used in applications where the pressure of agas or liquid is isolated from atmosphericpressure changes, for example when testing asealed pressure vessel for leaks over a long

    period of time.

    Strain-Gauge Pressure Transducer

    A strain gauge is a long lengthof conductor arranged in a zigzagpattern on a membrane.

    Works by having a diaphragmdeflect between 2 chambers open

    to the pressure inputs. As thediaphragm stretches its response

    to a change in pressure differenceacross it, the strain gaugestretches and a wheatstone bridge

    circuit amplifies the output.

    y Gauge reference pressure transmitterscan be configured to measure from -1bar (-15psi) which is approximatelyzero vacuum up to a positive pressuresuch +2 bar (+60psi). For rangesbelow 1 bar (15psi) the compounds

    range is typically bidirectionallysymmetric such as -500 to +500 mbar,but it is also possible to provide rangessuch as -200 to +500 mbar if required.
