For the first time, from 30 October to 12 November, the most iconic Parisian show venues, in partnership with the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau and Atout France, will be rolling out the red carpet to unveil their new line-up and add some extra sparkle to the capital at the start of autumn. All styles and genres are on the bill: music, ballet, theatre (with subtitles), circus, cabaret, and jazz ... In total, more than 2 600 free places will be on offer. The full line-up of shows, available to consult on the www.showtimeinparis.com website since 12 September, will be open for bookings on 18 September. An opportunity not to be missed to take full advantage of the Parisian performing arts scene and its world-renowned shows. Established in 1971, at the initiative of the City of Paris and the Paris
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as a non-profit association, the Paris
Convention and Visitors Bureau has three main missions: Welcoming and
informing visitors, and promoting the attractions of the capital in France and
abroad, on the leisure and MICE segments.

BEL CANTO (PARIS & NEUILLY)

When you dine at Bel Canto restaurants, you’re in for a musical dinner! Every evening, Bel
Canto combines opera and fine dining at two different locations.
The Bel Canto Hotel de Ville restaurant is
perfectly located in the Marais district just in
front of Notre-Dame cathedral and close to City
Hall. Every day, you can hear some of the world’s
great arias here – in a sumptuous setting
decorated with famous costumes crafted in the
workshops of the Opéra National de Paris.
The Bel Canto Neuilly is situated in the western
part of Paris in the department of the Hauts-de-Seine. The atmosphere could be described as

The show: les Dîners Lyriques
At Bel Canto, a carefully-orchestrated team of attentive waiters is supported by a quartet of
singers, accompanied by a piano. Every fifteen minutes or so, one, two or all four of the
singers perform parts of renowned arias from Carmen, Don Giovanni, Tosca, The Magic
Flute or La Bohème.

BOBINO
The show venue
Bobino is a theatre located on Paris’s Left Bank on a street well-known for its cultural
nightlife. Named after an Italian clown who found fame in Paris in the 19th century, Bobino
has an unusual history: since opening in 1870, it has welcomed an impressive roll call of
artists from the French scene, including Edith Piaf, Barbara or Josephine Baker. Totally
rebuilt in 1985, Bobino experimented with different directions until 2010, when its director
pursued a new vision, opening the theatre to one-man-shows, dance, concerts and musicals.

Les Franglaises
Les Franglaises is back in Paris after a successful tour in France and abroad. The show won
Best Musical at the 2015 Molières (the French equivalent of the Tony or Olivier awards). Why?
Because it’s an hilarious romp through the Anglo-Saxon musical repertoire, a fun-filled show
that knowingly plays with all the rules. It offers up literal French translations of some of the
best-known songs originally created in English – with some entertaining results!
Tutu – Chicos Mambo
Tutu explores some of the stage’s most famous and important dance works from Swan Lake to
Pina Bausch … with a twist. It’s a show filled with colourful surprises that will wow and
delight audiences. At its heart are the six chameleon-esque men who play all the roles – more
than 40 characters that will have you laughing, gasping and applauding.

LE CAVEAU DE LA HUCHETTE
The show venue
Recently celebrated in the Oscar-winning La La Land, the Caveau de la Huchette is the
mythical club of Paris’s Left Bank. This Latin Quarter jazz cellar has welcomed the world’s
best exponents of saxophone, drum and guitar jazz ever since American GIs brought the genre
over to France after the war.
Today, the Caveau’s band plays every night to fans of jazz and bebop dancing.

CIRQUE ALEXIS GRUSS

CIRQUE D’HIVER BOUGLIONE
The show venue
Located on the main boulevard between Place de la Bastille and Place de la République, the
Cirque d’Hiver is instantly recognizable thanks to its distinctive polygon architecture. It was
opened in 1852 by Napoleon III, and was initially used for equestrian shows before opening up
to other performance arts. In 1934, it was bought by the Bouglione family, whose shows
brought the venue fame at home and abroad.
Today, the Cirque d’Hiver is considered the oldest
permanent circus in the world.
Designated an historical monument in 1975, the
Cirque d’Hiver can accommodate up to 1,650
spectators. People of all ages are welcome!

Divan du monde
Founded at the heart of artistic Montmartre in the
19th century, the Divan du Monde started life as a
ballroom before adopting the name ‘Divan
Japonais’ (Japanese Divan). Today, it offers an
eclectic programme of concerts, with late night
clubbing Wednesday to Saturday featuring 100%
French music.
Madame Arthur
Next door to the Divan du Monde is a famous
transformist cabaret! Madame Arthur celebrates
French chanson songs, with drag queens donning
dresses and high heels to embody the stars of the
past and today! Early on in his career, iconic
French musician Serge Gainsbourg played piano

The show venue
The Grand Rex is one of the best-known movie theatres on Paris’s ‘Grands Boulevards’. Its
external facade, outsized compared to neighbouring buildings, features large neon signs and
an art deco tower.
The theatre’s 2,800 places are the most of any in Europe, and its 300 m2 screen (24.90 m (82
ft) wide and 11.35 m (37 ft) high) is the largest in Paris.

His album ‘Refuse to Loose’, released last year, created a sensation
in the world of the blues. At barely 30 years of age, Jarekus Singleton

Located on the most emblematic avenue of the French Capital, at 116 bis avenue des

Féerie
The Moulin Rouge offers its guests a Dinner-and-Show experience, starting with a
sophisticated dinner to be savoured against the melodic backdrop of live tunes played by the
musicians, or a Show evening sparkling with champagne bubbles.
Composed by Chef David Le Quellec, the restaurant menu boasts a new take on traditional

OPÉRA COMIQUE
The show venue
Alongside the Comédie-Française and the Opéra de Paris, the Opéra Comique is one of the
oldest French institutions of theatre and music. Located on a splendid square near the Grands
Boulevards, this national theatre celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015.
A night out at the Opéra Comique doesn’t
necessarily mean you’ll be watching comedy. The
main difference with regular opera is that the shows
feature both sung arias and spoken theatre.
The Opéra Comique offers up a rich and often

The Greek baritone Tassis Christoyannis excels across a range of repertories, but his passion is
to breathe new life into forgotten works.
Join him for a unique recital in the Salle Favart on 10 November.
The Magic Flute (Mozart)
The Magic Flute was Mozart’s last work – and a
testimony to his lyrical genius. He died a few weeks
after it premiered in Vienna.
The production presented at the Opéra Comique is a
version by Barrie Kosky and the London Collective in
1927. On stage, animated film and video is used to
evoke a world where an atmosphere of supernaturalism reigns supreme.
Created in Berlin in 2012, this production will have its French premiere at the Opéra Comique
on 6, November.

PALACE OF VERSAILLES
The show venue
Take in a show and you’ll get to see some of the property’s most iconic places: the Royal
Opera house, the Royal Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors or the sumptuous Hercules Salon. The
programme includes both contemporary and classical concerts.
It’s a great way to discover the Palace in another light, with just a handful of other people –

PHILHARMONIE DE PARIS
The show venue
Unique in the world, the Philharmonie is composed of 4 concert halls, a Music Museum, spaces
for educational activities, and areas to accommodate orchestras. One of the most impressive
concert halls is the Grande Salle, boasting exceptional acoustics. It can host up to 2,400
people in orchestra configuration.
The Orchestre de Paris is the Philharmonie’s main resident ensemble. It is France’s largest
symphonic ensemble, with 119 members.

2 orchestras, 150 musicians, 200 choristers: blending the scale of Mendelssohn’s era with a
celebration of nocturnal enchantments, this concert benefits from an added touch of wonder

RADIO FRANCE
The show venue
An iconic venue since the 1960s, Radio France is
located by the Seine close to the Eiffel Tower and
is home to France’s national radio stations. The
building is also known as ‘Maison Ronde’ (Round
House) because of its oval architecture.
Three years ago, Radio France inaugurated a new
auditorium for public concerts. Designed to
enhance the listening experience, this concert hall
was designed with 1,400 seats encircling the stage, offering greater proximity and intimacy
for both musicians and music lovers.

Jazz sur le vif
Every year, the Euroradio Jazz Producers put together a European jazz big band under the
name of the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra (EJO), a project whose roots date back to 1965. Each
EBU Member can send one musician under the age of 30 to perform in public with the EJO.
This year, the EJO concert is being organized at Radio France. The music director is the young
French trumpeter, composer and arranger Airelle Besson.
The concert will kick off with one the freshest revelations of the moment: trio nOx.3
accompanied by the Swedish singer Linda Oláh.
Shostakovich 1917
November 2017: a century ago, according to the Julian calendar used in Russia at the time,
Lenin took advantage of the fall of Tsar Nicolas II to found the myth of the Russian
Revolution. Shostakovich, whether he liked it or not, was enlisted to celebrate this
momentous event of 1917. The result was Symphony No. 12, with the last movement simply
entitled ‘The Dawn of Humanity’. An entirely different perspective is offered up in
his Symphony No. 9 and in his Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra – where
ideological references are completely absent.

THÉÂTRE BO SAINT-MARTIN
The show venue
Situated a short distance from Place de la République, this tiny theatre used to be a
bookstore. Today, its 70 cosy seats, high-end technology and air conditioning allow it to
welcome small audiences in an intimate setting. The owners both work in TV and one-man
shows and offer up an eclectic program. The aim is to entertain all types of audience.

Oh my God She’s Parisian!
Enjoy a one-hour comedy that’s 100% in English!
Julie Collas is a Parisian who used to live in London and
Chicago. And the experience of living abroad made her
inner Parisian come right out!
Now back in Paris, she presents a one-woman show
sharing all the ‘je ne sais quoi’ that makes her so
Parisian. In a series of hilarious sketches, you’ll meet a
whole series of typical French characters, from the rude
waiter to the impatient metro passenger.

THÉÂTRE DES NOUVEAUTES
The show venue
The Théâtre des Nouveautés finally settled on its current address at Boulevard Poissonnière
after a long history and several other locations. Established in 1921, the theatre was initially
famous for programming operettas, satires and political plays.
Today, the Théâtre des Nouveautés still sets the standard for vaudeville and light comedy.
Each season features some of the genre’s most talented writers and most famous actors.
Pascal Legros, director since 2010, is committed to preserving the theatre’s history and
reputation – but he also knows how to explore more audacious themes. For example, Olivier
Giraud presents a one-man show entirely in English!

THÉÂTRE LE RANELAGH
The show venue
The Théâtre du Ranelagh is located in the elegant
16th arrondissement of Paris. Built on the site of a
former theatre, the current building dates from 1894 as
features and has Neo-Renaissance style features with a
warm carved oak panelling interior. The owner at the
time was a wealthy manufacturer and music enthusiast.
If you come for a show, take the time to soak up the
surroundings. The magnificent architecture is classified as one of Paris’s ‘historical
monuments’ (listed since 1977).
