JEWELLERBAU “Yellowed” - lights up Main Street

Award-winning Argentine-Canadian artist Dina González Mascaró re-opens her newly renovated studio / shop: JewellerBau at 2408 Main Street in Mount Pleasant! The space re-opens to the public May 22.Grand Re-Opening party and exhibition takes place, Friday June 1, 6pm to 11pm. The invigorating redesign places the emphasis on her custom pieces, displaying a smaller range of items in a minimal space that is entirely bright yellow, walls, floor, ceiling… The reconfigured 6 foot by 13 foot shop focuses attention on the art-jewellery and leaves González Mascaró more room to move and create in her expanded studio on the other side of the yellow glass walls. Dina GM has expanded her scope of work beyond a dedication to singular original pieces, now incorporating limited edition production. For “Yellowed” DinaGM will be showing her new production lines, folded and stacks alongside new original one-off pieces. González Mascaró is also introducing to JewellerBau space dedicated to small object design.This project, JBau’D... POOM! is a collaboration with Joelle Ciona.JBau’D... POOM! will feature a curated selection of small objects, lighting, furniture, and accessories designed by González Mascaró, Ciona and invited guests. The intention is to introduce a new small object every month.

Dina González Mascaró holds a BFA (sculptor Major) from the Universidad de La Plata in Buenos Aires, and after winning Argentina’s prestigious Antorchas Prize, attended the Banff Centre for the Arts, in Banff Canada, as an International Artist in Residence. She has lived and worked in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood since 2001.

Dina’s unique designs combine the materials and techniques of a jeweller with the eye of a sculptor and the sensibility of an architect. JEWELLERBAU challenges the public to expand their understanding of what jewellery can be.
