// Hector // //PHONICA RECORDS//MEXICO|UK//

London has perfected the art of the DJ/shop assistant. By day Hector works alongside fellow DJs Heidi and Simon Rigg at Phonica Records in Soho, by night he's a firm fixture on the city's after-hours calendar. Born Hector Morillo ("You can see why I don't use my last name," he laughs), the twenty-six year old arrived in London half a decade ago from Guadalajara, Mexico to score a job at Phonica and work his way up the DJ ranks, both in London at parties such as Kubicle and Mulletover and overseas at clubs such as at Space in Ibiza. These days he is one of London’s most in demand DJ’s having held down residency at the recently deceased T-Bar, as well regularly spinning Phonica parties and London and being selected to support some of the finest acts on planet earth such as Loco Dice for his recent acclaimed Dalston warehouse under-300 party. Hector's profile is constantly on the rise. He's just moved into production with his debut twelve arriving on Dinky's label Horizontal last July, plus there is also a Hector single out on Phonica's fledgling new baby, the Phonica label, backed by a Martin Buttrich remix.

Artist Profiles//Headliner(s)

As a DJ, Hector has a reputation for knowing how to move a room. As his RA podcast from last year demonstrates (link to download below), beginning with bongos ("Hey, I'm from Mexico so I've got to have a bit of that") and moving through to the latest and hottest under-the-counter twelve’s from Phonica. Listen out for some big summer tunes, including Rhadoo's rated edit of St.Germain's 'Rose Rouge', Dubfire's 'Ribcage' and the Italoboyz' 'Viktor Casanova'.

// Edoardo // //MICROBIOTIC RECORDS//ITALY//

For Edoardo travelling has always been a really important part of his life and meeting new people and new cultures has been his dream since he was a child... Running an oriental handicraft shop first and getting to play a lot abroad later gave him the chance to be on the road most of his time. Edoardo started DJing a long ago, spinning techno and acid tunes in squat parties in Rome, and became one of the most known DJs in the trance scene, having played everywhere in the world, from small clubs and open air parties to the biggest open air gatherings such as Voov, Glade, Samothraki, Soulclipse, Universo Paralello, Rainbow Serpent. Edoardo is also one of the organizer of the mighty Sonica Festival, first electronic music festival in Italy, taking care of the artistic management of its trance stage. Recently he got back to his roots, playing also techno and minimal tunes, getting great feedbacks either from clubs and open air parties!

Artist Profiles//Residents

// Disco Stu //

// Presuming Ed //

Disco Stu lives in London and plays regularly around town on London based label Furthur Project Recordings. He currently co-hosts a monthly residency, the final Friday of each month, named after the label at legendary London venue The Rhythm Factory. Disco Stu’s sound is tricky to pigeonhole, as its always evolving… His DJ sets have a focus on hypnotic minimal grooves and tropical techno, but there is always a sprinkling of big sleazy snappy sounds to compliment, making his sets undeniably dance floor orientated. His sets are well known in London for their unique energy, sophisticated composition and forward thinking nature, taking inspiration from minimal, tech-house and tropical techno/ electro cross-over. If it makes you want to get your pole out and dance… it’s probably in his case logic! In early 2009 Disco Stu has been on tour in Brazil, taking his tropical sounds to some of the best beach parties in the world and bringing back home some very tasty material. So polish those shoes and practice those shapes… Presuming Ed is the DJ/production project of Ed Hill, one

of the founding members of the Furthur Project. Ed has always looked to remain two steps ahead of the rest of the game, embracing the latest technology and sounds to expand his sets. Testament to this pioneering attitude is the fact that he has twice finished runner up in the IDJ Raw Talent competition out of a pool of tens of thousands of entries. His production skills are also starting to get noticed and draw huge acclaim for his deep, foot-pounding bass-lines and a frighteningly impressive grasp on percussion and groove. He will be releasing music over the coming months with 4DigitalAudio (the new digital label from ex-Flying Rhino heads Grant Collins and James Monro), Bullet Dodge, and, of course, on Furthur Project Recordings. He also has some exciting new collaboration projects on the horizon with Grant Collins, and as Dog Soldiers with Alex Q-Bit.

// Getting There //

// Main Room //

Both Aldgate East & Whitechapel stations on the District/Hammersmith & City lines.

// The Rhythm Factory // // 16-18 WHITECHAPEL HIGH ST.//E1 1EW // ‘Final Friday’s’ will be a monthly Furthur Project event held at the fantastic Rhythm Factory, featuring at the venue on the last Friday of every month. The club has built a reputation for itself over the past few years for throwing some landmark events, super production, and, for forging it’s own unique, trademark style to really stand out amongst the competition in the already crowded Hoxton/Shoreditch area (and they serve up some truly cracking Thai food!). With the added bonus of a killer new Turbo sound system we are thrilled to have been invited to utilise this stunning venue to it’s full potential on a consistent basis and to be working with Stuart (Manager) and his phenomenal team (you will be hard pressed to find friendlier staff in London!)…

‘The Barometer of London’s musical trends…’ - The Guardian ‘The venue is arguably one of East London's better clubs located in the ultra-trendy Brick Lane area.’ - Resident Advisor ‘… possibly London’s most Rock & Roll venue!’ - One Week To Live

FP Connect & Links

// Connect With Us // The Furthur Project is a London-based artist management agency, events organisation, and recording label, founded in 2008. Our focus is primarily on funked-up electronica, from deep, melodic house and groovy, hypnotic techno, through to stripped back minimal, hybrid tech-house and beyond! We firmly believe that good music always has and always will speak for itself, and it is our ideal to not be tied down to any particular genre but remain open to all influences, to evolve and innovate. We currently cater for an ever-expanding group of exciting new London-based producers, DJ's, promoters, VJ's, designers, artists and even journalists; aiming to provide a platform and a network through which these skills can be propelled into the public domain. Our dedicated family works tirelessly to create new creative opportunities for our collective, whilst always keeping one eye (or ear!) on new talent emerging from the global underground. It is our ambition to break down the boundaries between the DJ booth and the dance-floor, allowing our audience to be as much a part of the Project as the sum of its parts. If you feel that you have something to contribute, then we are waiting for you to get in touch. Going into 2009 our efforts over the past 12 months are starting to bear fruit. We are now presenting 'Final Friday's', a monthly showcase event on the final Friday of every month at the fantastic Rhythm Factory in East London, pitting the hottest new talent bubbling out of the underground alongside our own artists. We will also be featuring at the incredible Glade Festival, the UK's largest (and best) dance-music culture festival in the beautiful English countryside, where we will be hosting the all-new 'Cub Tent' on the Friday night. And, from this summer and onwards, our music will be available to buy from all good digital download stores, be sure to keep an eye out some phenomenal releases and remixes from the Furthur Project Recordings stable throughout 2009 and beyond!
