Feedback on the first step (Lusaka – Zambia) From 14th to 22th of July 2018, 14 members from Samba Résille, 14 members from Arstcape and 14 members from Barefeet Theatre
met in Lusaka, Zambia. 42 people plunged into the everyday life of Barefeet !
This first mobility in Zambia led to all stakeholders to present their organization and share their experiences in the youth field.
In particular, partners discovered and participate to Barefeet’s actions with children in schools, libraries, orphanages or dropping centers.
This stay allowed also to collaborate and share artistic workshops, graffiti sessions, visits, discussions, gastronomic times… A way to
share musical and cultural diversities.
These artistic collaborations were presented at the Alliance Française in Lusaka with the presence of the French Ambassador in Zambia
and at the meetings with children.

Presentation: Samba Résille (France), in partnership with Barefeet Theatre (Zambia) and Artscape (South Africa), coordinates a program of learning
mobilities and cooperative activities, with the following goals:
- Improving the cooperative skills at the international level and the quality of the socio-educational tools of all stakeholders;
- Strengthening creative and innovative skills of all participants;
- Working on the internationalization and the leadership of the partners to make their youth actions take into account all the
stakes linked to the cultural construction of youth and the young construction of culture.
Our project fits the Erasmus + strategy for inclusion and diversity and wants to explore all the good practices that lead young people to
live new educational and fulfilling experiences, allowing them to build themselves as adults and help them strengthen their social and
professional skills. This project contributes to build a sustainable and inclusive society, thanks to its approach based on creative
activities and fits perfectly the general objectives of the renewed framework for the European cooperation in the youth field, which aims
to make a creative and innovative generation bloom.
For the European Union to benefit the economic and cultural potential of creative industries, the places of experimentation and
innovation have to open to the world and be conceived to make the skills of the cultural organizations grow, and to and allow them to
support the birth of a new cultural generation.
“Cultural construction of youth and young construction of culture” is a project led by Samba Résille (FR) in partnership with Barefeet
Theatre (ZM) and Artscape (ZA), 3 cultural organizations leaning on creative innovation of young people.
Following the analytic diagnosis of experiential skills of youth accessing to art and culture as an experience of personal growth, led
before the application by the consortium, the partners want to enrich and renew their pedagogical approaches and analyse various works
regarding public politics in Europe and Africa, focusing on questions about trends of youth culture and obstacles limiting culture access.
The stakes analysed in the preliminary works led the consortium to build a program targeting the needs observed in each of the
organizations, to give space to creativity, to adapt to the needs of participants, to incorporate the experiential knowledge trough
innovating numerical certifications, and to empower the spirit of enterprise and initiative.
This program plans 40 days of strengthening skills activities and 30 days of mobility for youth and social workers, and benefit to 126
persons, including 90 youth stake-holders. Among them, 72 youth workers with less opportunities will be particularly supported.
Thanks to the Erasmus + program, they will live an never dreamed experience.
The strategy of monitoring, evaluating, and releasing the results of the various activities tends to impulse a dynamic spreading the
project visibility beyond its limits, towards the external stake-holders and the targets. It encourages all partners to commit in a process
adding value to the productions of the project, allowing them to measure the quality of their works facilitating the socio-professional
inclusion and to measure the value created at all levels thanks to a longitudinal, appreciative and participative evaluation.
By the translational characteristic of the partnership and the cooperation, by the complementarity and the synergy with the projects led
in national and European frames, and by the search of harmonisation in methods of certification allowing a sustainability of the
cooperation, this project fits perfectly the 2020 strategy of the European Union and contributes to the realisation of general goals of the
renewed frame for the European cooperation for youth.

Barefeet Theater is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that uses play, creativity, and empowerment to give
vulnerable children in Zambia a chance at a better life. Barefeet was founded by former street children as a response
to the plight of young people living on Zambia streets. Through the power of performance, educational workshops,
and more, we develop vulnerable youth into physically healthy, cognitively, and socially competent young people.
Barefeet has 'toes'—our programme areas—which help inspire the most vulnerable youth to make positive life
choices and move to a safe and healthy environment. To achieve this we use a multi-dimensional approach. Through theatre,
performance, psychosocial support, creativity, and self-expression Barefeet works to address the needs of the children we work with.
We deliver life-saving information and inspiration to the kids who need it most through our outreach programs with children living on
the streets, our interactive theater workshops with 2,000 children in 40 communities in Zambia, and on the national stage at our annual
Barefeet Youth Arts Festival. Additionally, our children advocate for change for their fellow youth in the Barefeet Children Council,
comprised of elected representatives from our partner children centers. Our final is the Barefeet performance company, which generates
income to support our outreach programs and workshops.
“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, just take the step.”

Samba Résille (France) Since its creation in 1992 in Toulouse, Samba Résille, a non-governmental arts organisation, is deeply attached
to the values of the Universal Declaration of the UNESCO on cultural diversity. They are the base of its work,
and the foundation of the “ Centre d’Initiatives Culturelles et Citoyennes ” (CICC - Center for Cultural and
Citizen Initiatives), open in 2004 street Roquelaine in Toulouse.
This space is a polymorphic and interactive center, a place of proximity, accessibility, conviviality, energy,
humanity; an open place where people can meet, one of the rare places where alternative cultures can develop, a
popular and non-institutional place where everyone can be comfortable. It’s an organization nourishing from meetings, revitalizing
permanently, a place shining on its territory, a living and vibrating place, a place spreading to the popular neighborhoods, which allows
a appropriation of the center of the city, a project that works and allows a real participative and acting democracy.
Since more than 5 years, Samba Résille is focused to revitalize more and more this place, putting in synergy its territory with abroad,
multiplying meetings and European and international exchanges.
With the Erasmus + program (European commission), Samba Résille builds exchanges to share with European and international
partners, to develop artistic, technic and managerial skills in the cultural field.
Thanks to mobilities (travels), volunteers, administrators and employees of the organization acquire new skills they can share with its
territory and its publics.
