GOMÀ-CAMPS GROUP
Most relevant facts history
We are Gomà-Camps, a business group dedicated to the manufacturing, transformation and sale of tissue
paper and other related solutions. For more than 260 years, we have been committed to the quality and
diversity of our products, standing to constant innovation, respect for the environment, service to our
customers and the development of our staff.
1758 – The Camps family starts to manufacture paper.
The Camps family begins manufacturing paper with the construction of a paper mill in La Riba (Tarragona),
awarded to Francesc Camps i Camps. The mill manufactures silk paper by hand, for official documents.
1850-1914 – Paper manufacturing for the tobacco industry
The manufacturing of fine, low grammage papers, specially smoking paper, is promoted for the tobacco
industry of the Spanish colonies.
1914-1950 – Creation of the company J y M Gomà-Camps S.R.C.
The market for the tobacco industry is lost with the First World War. The company starts to manufacture fine
wrapping papers and manilas for wrapping bread, shoes, oranges, etc.
In 1941 the company J y M Gomà-Camps S.R.C. is established by the brothers Jaume and Maties Gomà-
Camps Solé.
The 50’s – Beginning of toilet paper manufacturing
Spanish borders open up to new markets and the arrival of products, such as plastic bags, causes a
stoppage in paper consumption.
Gomà-Camps starts to manufacture smooth toilet paper.
In 1958, the MP3 paper machine is set up to make smooth, curled single-layer toilet paper.
In 1959 a large fire destroys the factory. After months of work, paper production is resumed.
The 60’s and 70’s – New machinery and installations to manufacture tissue paper.
In 1968, a new paper machine is set up to manufacture tissue paper and to market new products such as:
toilet paper rolls, kitchen towel rolls, 2 and 3-layer napkins, tissues, etc.
In 1973, industrial warehouses of 10,000 m2 are built in the Valls Industrial Park.
In 1975 the Gomà-Camps S.A. public limited company is created, which incorporates the former J y M
Gomà-Camps, S.R.C.
In 1978 the company Pagar S.A. (Papers for Home) is established, which occupies the new Valls facilities.
Thus, the manufacturing of napkins and tissues is brought together in a single location.

The 80’s – Recycled paper is manufactured for the first time
In 1986 Gomà-Camps begins to manufacture tissue paper from recycled paper.
In 1989 the factory in Vilaverd is built to install the new converting of industrial products for the Spanish
professional market.
The 90’s – Internationalisation: opening of subsidiaries in France and Portugal
In 1991, the toilet paper section of La Riba factory burns down, destroying the productive machinery and a
second line that was in the assembly phase.
In 1992, a new line of toilet paper manufacturing is launched.
Gomà-Camps strengthens its strategy to manufacture recycled tissue paper during this decade.
The group starts its internationalisation process:
In 1993, the French subsidiary Gomà-Camps France is created with headquarters in Castres
In 1995, the Portuguese subsidiary Gomà-Camps Portugal is created, initially based in Évora and later in
Constancia.
2000’s – Creation of the joint venture GC&Wepa, S.L. aimed at the consumer goods sector
In 2004, Gomà-Camps reaches an agreement with the German family company WEPA for the creation of a
new company aimed at consumer goods sector in southern Europe. The company is named GC&Wepa, S.L.
and it is located in the industrial area of Ejea de los Caballeros (Zaragoza).
In 2008 Gomà-Camps celebrates the 250th anniversary of its foundation with joint celebrations between
employees from Spain, France, Portugal, as well as the GC&WEPA delegation.
In 2009, opens the subsidiary Gomà-Camps Angola with headquarters in Luanda, as a branch of GC
Portugal.
The line of 40x40 napkins is launched and the printing production capacity is expanded.
The new Jumbo industrial cellulose manufacturing starts.
Since 2010: New investments for the improvement of energy efficiency and international expansion
In 2014 Gomà-Camps Maroc S.A.R.L. is created for both professional and consumer goods sector markets.
Several investments are made in facilities and improvement of energy efficiency to reduce 10% of CO2
emissions to the atmosphere.
In 2015, Gomà-Camps acquires 100% of the shares of GC&WEPA and Gomà-Camps Consumer S.L.U. is
established, the group's company focused on the consumer goods sector.
Gomà-Camps is the first tissue company to obtain the European Eco-Label.
Concentration of the group's production in two production centres in the Iberian Peninsula.
2018: 260 Anniversary of Gomà-Camps
Inauguration of the new paper machine (MP7) in Gomà-Camps Consumer, Ejea de los Caballeros.

30 years of experience. We manufacture our own Nature paper with which we guarantee the constant
quality of the product and the control of the entire process. We take advantage of the cellulose fibres
present in cardboard packaging to produce products that offer softness and give this characteristic
colour.
DCR. The most resistant line of tablecloths for your business.
The DCR line brings distinction, colour and functionality to the table and is made of a material with an
excellent quality-price ratio, is resistant and does not deteriorate with humidity. The DCR line is
available in more than 15 colours and designs that adapt to all types of tables and needs of the
hospitality sector.

Our non-woven, one-time use material. It has a similar feel to fabric and can be used as a complement

Their exclusive double-layer adhesion system is softer, more absorbent and more attractive than the
majority of the towels on the market. Their completely sealed packaging guarantees the hygiene of the

ADD SYSTEM: exclusive layer-joining system.
This system offers more resistance thanks to the joining of laminated layers, preventing their separation.
Also, it has greater volume, fluffiness and absorption capacity due to the spaces of air between each
layer.
PUNTA&PUNTA: napkins with greater resistance and body
Developed with a type of embossing with one drop of glue between the two sheets of tissue paper. In
this way, the napkins have greater resistance and body, in addition to greater absorption and volume.

Paper towels
Our paper towels are characterised by their resistance and functionality, making them an ideal element

Hand towels

panel; and in W with four panels that ensure maximum drying capacity and optimum hygiene.

Our recycled paper
We have an exclusive line of products of 100% recycled tissue paper: GC ECO for the professional
market and My Tissue Ecológico for the home. We manufacture solutions with recycled fibre, which
contributes to creating and maintaining the paper use cycle.
For the development of recycled paper, we use raw materials nearby, always contributing to the
creation of green employment opportunities and related with the paper recovery sector.
Also, our experience of more than 30 years of manufacturing recycled paper and our commitment to
R&D+i allows to offer a recycled paper that stands out for being eco-friendly, its whiteness and quality.
How do we produce our recycled tissue paper?
• We do not incorporate substances that are damaging to the environment, nor bleach nor dangerous
products.
• We optimise the consumption of electricity and water.
• We emit a low level of greenhouse gases.
• We use recovered paper that comes from controlled recycling sources.
• We have broadened our purification capacity to improve water quality.
• We properly manage waste, which is reused for making ceramic blocks or for the production of
compost.
Gomà-Camps' recycled paper has half the CO2 emissions per kg of paper than the majority of tissue
paper on the market, thanks to local recycling and low consumption of resources that we promote
during the manufacturing process.
Our extensive experience with recycled tissue paper allows us to offer a wide variety of lines, the most
extensive on the market. We have over 50 different products with Ecolabel and PEFC certifications,
which guarantee manufactured products with very high eco-friendly standards for both professionals
and homes.

the energy required without major consumption of fossil fuels.
Water
Gomà-Camps has been a leader for quite some time in the reduction of water consumption in the
recycled tissue sector with two objectives: environmental necessities and awareness. Currently we
recirculate over 50% of our water, which is returned in perfect conditions to the river after being used
and purified.
The aim of the Company is to continue reducing the consumption of water in the production process.
With this in mind, we collaborate with universities and institutions to improve and optimise resources,
and to achieve direct results in the care for our environment.

The legal limits of organic waste dumping by 45%.
The legal limits of dumping suspended solids by 85%. More than 50% of water dumped in the process
is recirculated, reducing the consumption of fresh water.
OUR MANUFACTURING
Through our sustainable manufacturing we have achieved:
A 20% reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
A 10% reduction in electricity consumption.
Every 10% of reduction of our gas consumption is equivalent to reducing the amount CO2 emissions
that could be absorbed by a forest of 15,000 large trees.
OUR PRODUCTS
In the production of our products:
More than 50% of the manufacturing of tissue paper comes from recycled paper.
We reuse pallets for our final products.
The virgin pulp comes 100% from certified forests, managed under sustainability criteria.
We continuously work with universities and research centres to improve environmental management in
the reduction of water consumption and chemical products, and to find alternatives uses for waste.

Ecolabel is a European Union system for identifying the products that are the most

PEFC
The forest products certified by PEFC guarantee consumers that they are acquiring products coming
from responsible recycling sources and from forests that are sustainably managed. By selecting PEFC
products, consumers can help fight illegal logging and encourage the recovery of already used paper.
FSC
The FSC certification guarantees that the products come from well-managed forests that
provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
This certification verifies that the products sold with the FSC label have fulfilled the strict standards of
the FSC from the forest to the point of sale, and is a guarantee that the raw materials come from a
responsible source.
