President’s Remarks Another wet summer and some of us have been rained out more than once. But being the die hard group we are, we'll keep on playing. The schedule for the golf out- ings is in place through September and there are still many great courses to play. Our group which is heading to Titusville is growing and we expect a great party time as well as golfing for three days. Should be a great time thanks to the efforts of our social chairperson Jim Smith. Way to go Jim!!!!! Also I heard a whispering about another weekend getaway in the early fall somewhere in Georgia. I would like to welcome all the new members to our chapter and if you see a newbie, please introduce yourself, welcome them, and wish them luck on the links. ~Bruce Misko Social Chair We enjoyed a fabulous "Fifth of July" party at the home of Dennis and Sharon Micare - see the pictures in this issue! - and are currently finalizing the plans for our weekend getaway coming up in just two weeks. There is still time to get in on the action, so please contact me if you want to join in on the fun. ~Jim Smith Orlando Chapter - American Singles Golf Association July 2014 CELEBRATING 22 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Upcoming Events Include (see SinglesGolf.com/events) Denver's Rocky Mountain High Weekend - August 15-18, 2014. However we will still play golf and have fun, this is the time of year where we play some of the best courses at the best prices. Our numbers are much bet- ter in 2014 vs 2013, thanks in part to Carolyn's work on the Meetup website, attracting new members and guests each week to experience ASGA, and then there are you members that are bringing a few new guests along each week to play with the group. We have some great golf for you still for the remainder of 2014, courses like Grande Pines (which will close its doors in March); Disney the LBV and Magnolia courses, Orange County National the Pan- ther course; Metro West; and Falcons Fire. We will also head back to Clermont for the Legends course and play Eagle Creek, just to name a few. If you have a course you would like to play, just let me know and I will see what I can do - we have a few dates open for the 2014 golf season. Now we have the Florida Cup scheduled for Oct. 18th and 19th. Tampa will be the host chapter for 2014, hosting Orlando, The Villages, Jacksonville, and Sarasota. The Orlando chapter has won this beauti- ful trophy 3 of the 4 years. It will be held at the Eagles Golf Club in Odessa, FL. We will need someone to step up as team captain for this very special event. This person will need to select the team of Or- lando players from those wanting to par- ticipate. We will need 6 men and 6 women and at least 4 alternates for this fun two- day event. There also will be a shamble and scramble format for all others to share in the fun and prizes. If you want to be the team captain, please contact me as you will need to get to work on this event and work with the Tampa chapter to get things going. mation out to you again once a captain has been named. The Orlando Club Championship will be held on Dec. 7th. For this event each member that would like to play will have to have an estab-lished handicap and have played in at least 6 club outings. Now about the 2015 Sunshine Fling. Save the Dates of March 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th. We had 150 people from across the country join in the fun for 2014 - we even had Tom Alsop join us to see how we do things! This event was larger than some National events, and we want to grow again. This is why for 2015 we will make it a 3 night stay with 2 rounds of golf included and 2 more optional rounds of golf, as well as 2 nights of dancing. The 3 venues that are being considered are PGA in Port St. Lucie, World Golf Village in St. Augustine, and the Hammock Beach Resort. Go to the websites of each location and let me know of your choice. Come out and play some golf with the group, we have some new faces and some that have been members that have come back to ASGA. Remember to bring along a friend. ~Barney Coomes

Golf Humor Why I Mow My Own Lawn One day, shortly after joining the PGA tour in 1965, Lee Trevino, a professional golfer and married man, was at his home in Dallas, Texas, mowing his front lawn, as he always did. A lady driving by in a big, shiny Cadillac stopped in front of his house, lowered the win-dow and asked, “Excuse me, do you speak English?" Lee responded, “Yes Ma'am, I do." The lady then asked, “What do you charge to do yard work?” Lee said, "Well, the lady in this house lets me sleep with her." The lady hurriedly put the car into gear and sped off.
