Dr. Kathleen Wolf
10:00 AM — 5:00 PM

Topics covered will include:
Health and social benefits of urban greening
Economic benefits of trees in business districts
Parking lots and trees
Community design for urban forest benefits
Techniques for research outreach to community and government leaders
Track B: Arboriculture Tree Academy
"CSI for BUGS: Honing Your Diagnostic Skills"
Dr. Michael Raupp

Insects and mites that damage plants are like perpetrators of a crime and many times when you arrive at the crime scene, you don’t see the perp standing over the victim. You must learn to use the clues, symptoms and signs to identify ‘who done it’.
In this workshop you will learn:
The ways insects and mites damage plants
Who are the chewers (beetles, caterpillars, sawflies, grasshoppers, etc.) and suckers (aphids, scales, hoppers, true bugs, mites), how they damage plants, and live their curious lives
How to recognize five major categories of plant damage and associate this damage with the perpetrators that cause them
Chemical and non-chemical approaches for mitigating damage caused by insects and mites
