WELCOME FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
Welcome future leaders to the 2012 South Florida Young Women’s Leadership Symposium. The Florida Diversity Council is proud to present you with important information on how to “Live in
The Moment…Time Catches Up.”
We are fortunate to have a dynamic group of female professionals who will share their experiences and recommendations that you can begin to leverage today to help you achieve your goals and dreams. The information shared today will provide a foundation that will build confidence, help you identify and define the image that you want to project, and offer a solid understanding of how financial management can help you be more successful. We hope our impressive speakers will inspire you to define success for yourself and to pursue your dreams. You are the leaders of the future!
Throughout the day and especially as part of the mentoring portion of the Program we strongly encourage you to network and share contact information with one another and our panelists. It is our hope and intent that you take the insights shared with you today and begin to use them as tools in your own personal development.
The Florida Diversity Council appreciates you taking the time to invest in your future and this Symposium as a whole. We are grateful for your attendance and wish to extend a special thank you to our in-kind sponsor, Junior Achievement of South Florida, Inc. We would also like to thank all our sponsors, volunteers, staff, and committee members because without your support, this event would not be possible.

Dear Students,
We are excited to welcome you to the South Florida Young Women’s Leadership Symposium hosted by the National Diversity Council. The theme for today’s symposium is “Live the Moment… Time Catches Up.”
The symposium offers an opportunity for you to observe, learn, network and hear different perspectives. You will gather a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise from some of the top female executives in your community. I encourage you to take their advice, talk openly about today’s topics and exchange ideas. It is my hope that your experience today is rewarding and allows you to reflect on your own goals and status in an effort to help catapult you to the top of your high school class, undergraduate career, and future profession.
We sincerely appreciate your attendance today in support of the Young Women’s Leadership Symposium and the National Diversity Council. I would like to thank all of our corporate sponsors, planning committee members, program participants, and volunteers. Without each of you, this event would not be a success.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Jinja Cuevas is the Director of Human Resources at Creative LifeStyles, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides services to developmentally disabled individuals in Bronx, NY. She has been in this position for almost two years, and supervises two professional HR staff. Mrs. Cuevas has had the opportunity to develop internal systems that have improved efficiency and productivity within the Agency. Prior to accepting this position, she was the Coordinator of Human Resources for another non-profit organization which serves the same population in Brooklyn, NY, and she held this position for three years.
At an early age, Jinja knew that she wanted to work in a field that provided support and services to underserved communities. Her first employment opportunity out of undergraduate school was as a Program Associate/Grants Manager for Cicatelli Associates, Inc., a training center located in New York. In this role, she worked on the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund grant, and administered grant awards to community based organizations in each state that provided outreach and breast cancer screenings to uninsured women. After a career detour in the corporate sector as an Attorney Development Assistant for one of the largest law firms in the world, it became even more apparent to her that in order to be fulfilled in her employment, she had to “give back” to the communities that needed it most.
Mrs. Cuevas holds a Master’s of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Milano The New School University for Management and Urban Policy in New York, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Services from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She enjoys traveling, writing, and researching new trends in recruiting and retaining top talent employees. She resides in New Rochelle, NY with her husband of two and a half years, and she enjoys spending as much time with her family as she can.
