2017 Utah Opioid Management,

Diversion, and Heroin Summit

October 05, 2017 in Ogden, Utah

We are pleased to announce that the second annual Utah Opioid, Management, Diversion,

and Heroin Summit will be held October 05, 2017, at McKay-Dee Hospital (4401 Harrison Blvd.,

Ogden, Utah 84403).

The conference is sponsored by the Utah Department of Health, Utah Department of

Commerce/Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing/Controlled Substance Database,

Utah Office of Inspector General for Medicaid Services, Utah Coalition for Opioid Overdose

Prevention (UCOOP), and Intermountain Healthcare McKay-Dee Hospital.

The Summit is for law enforcement, health care professionals, oversight agencies, policy

makers, educators, and healthcare administrators.

General registration is $50.00.

The goal for the Summit is to cross-educate law enforcement, mental health providers,

pharmacists, and the provider communities to effectively address the increased death and crime

associated with the opioid and heroin epidemic in our state.

Presentation on Alternatives to Prescribing Opioids, by Michael Wright of the Utah Pharmacy

Association

Discussion by Jennifer Plumb, MD, MPH on the Use of Narcan in an Era of Opioid Abuse

Presentation by Supervisory Special Agent James LaMadrid of the FBI Cyber Crimes Unit on

the Challenge of Internet Prescriptions: Vulnerabilities and Tracking

Discussion by well-known sports announcer, Alema Harrington, on Recovering from

Addiction
