When the gas is lighter it will reduce the load for the air-conditioner compressor. For an example,

when a car travels for a distance of 100 km with a speed 110km/h with only driver as a passenger, compared with the car traveling over the same distance at the same speed , with 5 passengers, fuel consumption will be different due to the load carried by the car. The same principal applies to this. Initial of energy saving begin with this.   Lighter gas travel faster then a heavier gas.
