Re-introduced ‘Green Team Program’ to local elementary schools;

Sustainable Operations Focus 2014 Recycling continued:
Picked up free recycling trailers from Bryce Canyon National Park through surplus program for our more remote Districts;
Will utilize Bryce Canyon Propane Canister recycling unit next season at our Red Canyon Visitor Center; Punctures the canister, Removes the propane which runs the machine,
and; Crushes the canisters for recycling.

Purchased, through the partnership, an Enviroscape Watershed/Non-point Source Table Model that mimics non-point source pollution in a watershed. Presented at Iron County Water Fair to local 4th grade
classes; Presented at Washington County Water Fair to local 4th
grade classes; Presented during several events, in classrooms and
during elementary Science Club. Will install water-filling stations this year to help reduce
plastic water bottles.

Fleet: Joined Utah Clean Cities Coalition:
http://www.utahcleancities.org/ Promotes alternative fuels, Promotes alternative fueled vehicles and Promotes fuel economy strategies; Provides ‘Idle Free’ signs and stickers.
Joined GSA Electric Plug-in Vehicle Pilot Program: Received a Ford ENERGI (hybrid has 620 mile range) and
charging station; Looking into other options.

buildings; Installed energy-efficient appliances in
buildings; Replaced old HVAC units with more energy
efficient models; Implemented Power-It-Down on weekends;

Purchase green products such as simple green, and paper towels from Green Brand Industries;
Use 30% recycled paper – 100% jams printers;
Include sustainable operations requirements in acquisitions and contracts;
Purchase of bio-based products is written into contracts;

Have a cross-discipline Green Team; Have a multi-year Sustainable Operations Action

Employee Education (Element 1): Education Team presented CC topic to all District
Employees; Present ‘Climate Clip’ video topics during Forest
monthly family meetings; Produce monthly flyer called the HOTSEAT which
is posted in all bathrooms around the Forest; Have a ‘Climate Corner’ in the Forest quarterly
newsletter; Will be presenting the CCRC education modules
to each of our Districts by April 1, 2015.
Climate Change Focus 2014/15 FY15 - Require all employees to take the Climate
Change Education Modules on the CCRC webpage http://www.fs.usda.gov/ccrc/climate-basics/education
Modules are based on the best available science and a certificate will be generated upon completion.
These education modules can be used to satisfy the Forest Service Climate Change Performance Scorecard Element One requirement for all-employee education.
Using Impact Monster skit to inform children and adults about Climate Change, Wilderness, Tread Lightly and Leave no Trace principles.

Southern Utah Sustainable Operations Partnership (SOP)encourages the voluntary use of sustainable practices to reduce the risk of climate change. Partners benefit from the use of sustainable practices, while supporting renewable energy, water conservation, alternative fuels, waste reduction & recycling, green purchasing and sustainable leadership in our communities.
By joining SOP Partners commit to:Use sustainable practices that meet or exceed Partnership standards.Report sustainable practices annually.
In return, SOP commits to:·Provide public recognition.·Provide outreach, educational, and communication assistance as requested by Partner.·Provide a brief description of the Partner’s sustainable practices on the SOP
