Topic: Starting a Career in IT Interested in application development, web design, or Information Management? Learn what it takes to get into an IT career. Hear from ISU alumni and Senior User Interface Designer, Desarae Veit, about her experiences in the information technology field. This presentation will include tips on getting an internship, the differences between business cultures including digital agencies, start-ups, running your own business, government work, and corporate lifestyles, as well as Q&A discussions. Date/Time: Monday, September 28th, 1:10-2:00pm (The room accommodates up to 30 students) Please do your best to start and end your presentation on time. Many of these rooms are only reserved for one hour; therefore, we ask that you exit the room shortly after the completion of your presentation. If you wish, you are welcome to make arrangements to talk with students in the hallway outside or in the room if it is not being utilized. Parking: Park in the Memorial Union Parking Ramp (your parking will be validated in our office). Check-in: Please check in at our office – 1320 Gerdin Business Building. 10-15 minutes prior to your presentation. A Career Services Assistant will assist you in getting to the room in which you will be presenting. Let us know if you need to make other arrangements to arrive earlier – we can accommodate you! Directions can be found at: http://www.business.iastate.edu/careers/about-career-services/directio ns/ Technology: You will have access to a computer, screen, speaker system, and projector in your room. Our classrooms have laptop connections for VGA only. If you have a laptop with some other connector, you need to get an adapter for your laptop to communicate with VGA. You may want to save your presentation material on a flash drive rather than bringing your laptop. You can also email it to yourself as a backup. The Career Services Assistant will be available to help you set-up and stay in the room throughout your presentation. Please let me know if you have any questions.
