CHECK LIST Job request and NDT procedure

Vehicle Pre-Start

Travel documents

Code and specifications

Equipment checked and calibrated

Calibration certificates ( if required )

Emergency kit

JSEA written and signed

TAKE 2 / step back 5X5

ONSITE RADIOGRAPHY Visually inspect the work area ( Look for doors / Opening

/Rooms into barricaded )

Do your JSEA before doing anything at site

Setting up barriers

Make a barrier plan

Keep monitoring the dose rate

Controlled area within 25μsv/hr.

Extend the barrier / use additional shielding if the controlled area is more than 25μsv/hr.

Take 2 once the barrier is controlled

Look for non radiation workers during the onsite radiography

Page 4: Presentation4

Define the boundary using warning signs and notices

Warning lights and audible alarm to be located adjacent to exposure point

Ensure each source in use is properly separated and barricaded and different monitors allocated

ALARA: As low as reasonably achievable i.e., radiation dose should be as low as practicable

ONSITE RADIOGRAPHY

DUTIES OF A RADIOGRAPHER Its mandatory that Technicians are qualified and

certified for the tasks being performed

Ensure that right calibrated equipment is carried

Make sure all paper works are filled in a timely manner

Make sure to have a good relationship with clients

Ensure the job is done safely

Keep the work place clean and tidy before & after commencing work

Always wear appropriate PPE, PDE & TLD

Make sure the TLD’s are worn and current

Page 6: Presentation4

SAFE DISTANCE BARRIER DISTANCE MUST NOT EXCEED 25usv/hr.

For IR192 the distance will be calculated using inverse square law

For x radiography the distance calculated during the x-ray set warm up

Use proper shielding to reduce the dose rate Incase of emergency please inform your

supervisor, HSE team

Page 7: Presentation4

IF YOU ARE AN RPS Ensure that the radiographers are wearing

appropriate PPE

Ensure that TLD’s worn and current

Ensure that the site radiography is controlled

Ensure that the barriers dose rate is within the limit

Verify all paper works are properly done

Make sure to be present on site all times during radiography

Ensure all the works are completed safely

Page 8: Presentation4

AFTER RADIOGRAPHY Make sure all equipment are disconnected

Make sure all equipment are in good condition

Make sure that you inform the clients that work completed

Tag out any faulty equipment

Make sure that you carry out all the travel docs and tools back to the workshop safely

Any hazard, near miss kindly inform your supervisor or HSE team
