Discipline Procedures
y Green Card: pass to go to thebathroom one (1) time.
y Yellow Card:Warning
y Red Card: Student writesfriendly letter during recessexplaining how the behaviorcan be corrected. Student mustremain in the classroom for 10minutes during lunch to writethe letter. The letter will be sent
home everyday for parents tosign and return the next day.
y *Three friendly letters = one (1)infraction
y Blue Card: student receivesan infraction.
y Black Card: Principal andparent meeting
y *Serious actions such asbullying, cheating, fighting,consistently not turning inhomework or not havingassessments or behaviormodification books signed,etc are automatic infractions.See Student/ParentHandbook for moreinformation.

If your child is absent, you MUST senda written excuse the following day.Family trips during school days areunexcused. Teachers will not be able toprovide a packet with make-up work for
students to take with them. No missedassessments will be rescheduled if parents fail to turn in a written excuse tothe teacher or to the Elementary Office.

Homework Policy
y Homework will be assigned every day from Monday toThursday. It must be handed in neatly and complete. Thestudent will receive an infraction for everythree homeworkassignments not turned in within a quarter. Any signed paper,infraction, and friendly letters that are not returned signed the
following day after they were sent home will be consideredmissing homework assignments.
Student Work Sent Home
y Graded papers will be sent home every 2-3 weeks. They must designed by a parent and returned to be saved in students portfoliothe following Monday. If a student fails to turn in thesigned papers on Monday, it will be counted as amissing homework assignment.

Rewards (Sample: 5B Class)
Individual Rewardsy 5Bs Big Bucks Match -Every time a student is caught
doing something good (ex. helping others, workingcooperatively, making good choices, etc.) he/she will be
given 5 big bucks (fake money) by one of his/herteachers. The money can be used in return to buy individualprivileges such as no homework pass (for one homeworkassignment), free centers day, free choice in the computeror enjoy a snack in class).
Class Rewardsy Every time the entire class is caught following a
procedure or displaying exemplary behavior they will earna marble. When 5Bs marble jar is full they select anactivity from the 5Bs Wish List.

You have already received a copy of our classroomschedule. In order to truly engage our students intolearning by means of structured teaching practices, we
would like to request that you DO NOT INTERRUPT the
teacher during class times. Please send a written request, oremail, and a meeting will be promptly scheduled.
Please send your child to school no later than 7:25 a.m.
After that time, he or she is considered tardy.
Birthday party celebrations may take place duringlunch (12:30 p.m.) Please let the teachers know a few days
in advance.

Always send a written note if your child will be goinghome with a friend, another adult, riding a different bus
number, etc. Remember, the teacher needs to be awareabout each students whereabouts.
Cell phones, electronic equipment, and toys are notallowed at school. Teacher will keep these items untilparents are notified.
Please refer to the Student Handbook for correct uniform
code. Students will receive an infraction for not followingany expectation outlined in the Student Handbook.

The Elementary School has already implemented abalanced literacy program using the Cell-Exllmodel developed by the Foundation for
