INTRODUCTION

PALACES & FORTS India is blessed with a lot of marvelous

structures and buildings which are spread all across the globe. Among these structures are the very glorious forts and beautiful palaces. Forts and palaces are spread in the while world are highly famous for their architecture and design. These forts and palaces are built with a purpose and not merely for tourist attraction. Red Fort, Delhi

This beautiful building made in red sandstone is a very important building for the country, as here the president hoist the national flag on every Independence Day. The building was built under the commission of Mughal king Shah Jahan.

Amber Fort, Rajasthan

A real structure built in the city of Amer in Jaipur, this is one of the best forts in Rajasthan. Built in sandstone and marble, the building shows the historical splendor of Rajput kings, and their elegance. There are many beautiful sections inside the fort, each one worth taking a look at.

Agra Fort, Agra

Within the walled city of Agra, this fort was built under the commission of Akbar the Great, and was the capital and main center of all the activities of kings during their times. The fort was also used as a military hub during the independence fight against Britishers.

Jaisalmer Fort, Rajasthan

The great one of the world's largest forts, the Jaisalmer stands erect on the shining desert of the Great Thar. A 12th century structure, built by Rajput kings, is exquisite and grand in its formations and the colour yellow of the walls also gave it the name of “The Golden Fort”.

Fatehpur Sikri 

Built near the much older Sikri, the historical city of Bharat, as it was first named Sikrigarh, was constructed by Sikriwal Rajput Rajas last Emperor Maharana Sangram Singh beginning in 1500. At Seventh attack of Akbar Sikriwal Rajput left Palace after that Sikrigarh was named Fatehpur (victory) Sikri.

Purana Qila, Delhi

Purana Qila (Old Fort), is not only the oldest fort among all forts in Delhi, but the oldest known structure of any type in Delhi. Located at the site of legendary city of Indraprastha, the fort was founded by Pandavas on the banks of perineal river Yamuna, which is revered by Hindus since ages. Fort is more than 5000 years old, and was constructed before the 'Mahabharata' took place.

Amba vilas palace , Mysore

Mysore is commonly described as the City of Palaces, however, the term "Mysore Palace" specifically refers to one within the old fort. The wodeyvar kings first built a palace in Mysore in the 14th century, it was demolished and constructed times. The current palace construction was commissioned in 1897, and it was completed in 1912 and expanded later around 1940.

Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar  is an unesc0 world heritage site in delhi, India. The Qutub Minar was constructed with red sandstone and marble, and is the tallest minaret in India, with a height of 72.5 metres (237.8 ft), contains 379 stairs to reach the top, and the diameter of base is 14.3 metres whereas the last storey is of 2.7 metres. The Construction was commenced by qutub-u d-din Aibak in 1192 and completed by Iltutmish.

Mehrangarh Fort.

The fort is situated 400 feet (122 m) above the city and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. A winding road leads to and from the city below. The imprints of cannonball hits by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. To the left of the fort is the chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot defending the Mehrangarh fort.

Laxmi Vilas Palace , Baroda

The term Maharaja Palace actually refers to a series of palaces in Vadodara, India, constructed since the Gaekwad a prominent Maratha family started ruling the Baroda State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada. This building, not really a palace, was given up for theNazarbaug Palace built in old classical style

Taj Mahal , Agra

The Taj Mahal is the epitome of Mughal art and one of the most famous buildings in the world. Yet there have been few serious studies of it and no full analysis of its architecture and meaning. Ebba Koch, an important scholar,  has been permitted to take measurements of the complex and has been working on the palaces and gardens of Shah Jahan for thirty years and on the Taj Mahal itself—the tomb of the emperor's wife,Mumtaz Mahal for a decade.

Umaid Bhawan , Jodhpur

Umaid Bhawan Palace was called chittar palace during its construction due to its location on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur. Ground for the foundations of the building was broken on 18 November 1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh and the construction work was completed in 1943.draft by chatra mohan sharma chief drafts man in indian railway.

City Palace, Udaipur

City Palace, Udaipur, is a palace complex in Udaipur, in the Indian state Rajasthan. It was built by the Maharana Udai Singh as the capital of theSisodia Rajput clan in 1559, after he moved from Chittor. It is located on the east bank of the Lake Pichola and has several palaces built within its complex. Udaipur was the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar in the Rajputana Agency and its last capital.

Golkonda fort , Hyderabad

Golkonda also known as Golla konda (shepherd's hill) a ruined city of south-central India and capital of ancient Kingdom of Golkonda (c.1518–1687), is situated 11 km west of Hyderabad. The most important builder of Golkonda was Ibrahim , qhli qutub shah wali, the fourth Qutub king of the  qutab shahi dynasty.

Jal Mahal , Jaipur

Jal Mahal (meaning "Water Palace") is a palace located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake

in Jaipur city, the capital of the state of Rajasthan , India. The palace and the lake around it were renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by

Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber.

Hawa mahal , Jaipur

Hawa Mahal "Palace of Winds" or “Palace of the Breeze”), is a palace in Jaipur, India. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, and designed by Lal chand Ustad in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god. Its unique five-story exterior is also a kind to the honey comb of the beehive with its 953 small windows called jharokhas that are decorated with intricate latticework.

Chatra pati Shahu PalaceKolhapur

The Maharaja's Palace is an impressive palace in Kolhapur constructed in 1881 and it presently encloses the famous Shahaji Chhatrapati museum. The Museum displays furniture, weapons, clothing used during the regime and by his Highness Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj himself. It also has photographs depicting his life right from his childhood to being a young hunter to a social reformer.

Jai Vilas Palace, Gwalior

Jai Vilas Palace, the current residence of the royal Maratha family ‘scindia', is an Italianate structure combining the Tuscan and Corinthian architectural modes. About 35 of the rooms have been converted into the Scindia Museum. The main durbar hall is impressive. The Jai Vilas Palace is an opulent Italianate structure, set in carefully laid lawns. Built in 1809, this palace was designed by Lt. Col. Sir Michael Filose. In these rooms, so evocative of a regal lifestyle, the past comes alive.

Kangra Fort ,Himachal Pradesh

The Kangra Fort was built by the royal Rajput family of Kangra (the Katoch dynasty ) in 4 b.c ,which traces its origins to the ancient Trigarta Kingdom, mentioned in the Mahabharata epic. It is the largest fort in the Himalayas and probably the oldest dated fort in India.

Uparkot fort, Junagarh

Uparkot Fort, Junagarh is situated at the foot of the Girnar Hills. It was built during the Nawabi period. Chandragupta maurya is said to have constructed the fort in 319 BC. It was rebuilt by many kings over the centuries. The fort was abandoned between 7th and 8th centuries. However, the fort was rediscovered in 976 AD.

Salar Jung Museum

The Salar Jung Museum was established in 1951. The major portion of the collection of the museum was acquired by Mir Yusuf Ali Khan, popularly known as Salar Jung III. In the absence of any direct descendants of Salar Jung III, the Government of India appointed a Committee to administer the Salar Jung Estate. Later on with the idea of perpetuating his name, the Salar Jung Museum was brought into existence on 16th December, 1951 in Diwan Deodi, the residential palace of Salar Jung III and opened to the public by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India.

Gandhi National Museum

The National Gandhi Museum or Gandhi Memorial Museum is a museum located in New Delhi, India showcasing the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum first opened in Mumbai, shortly after Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. The museum relocated several times before moving to Rajghat, New Delhi in 1961.

Nehru Memorial Museum

Who has not heard of Jawahar Lal Nehru - the First Prime Minister of India. Fondly called as Chacha Nehru by children , this museum made in the honour of Nehruji , is a reflection of the lifestyle and life of Jawahar Lal Nehru. Here you can hear the footsteps of Nehruji, or may be you can see him standing just across the table - its up to you how far you can run your imagination.

Prince Of Wales Museum, Mumbai

Set up in the 20th century it has been recently renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajah Museum. It was built to commemorate the arrival of the Prince of Whales by some prominent citizens with the help of Indian Govt. Lying near the Gate of India it tells the tale of the era gone by.

State Museum Of Tripura

Established in 1970, in Agartala its a multipurpose Museum with four galleries namely the Tribal and cultural gallery, Painting gallery, Photo gallery, Indian Sculpture through all ages. National Archives Museum

The is national archives an entity of the office of Department of Culture under the ministry of Tourism and Culture. It is the depository of the old records of Govt. of India. The documents kept here is for the use of the Administrators and the scholars. But then it is also open for the Common man to see. It has one of the oldest records of India, as old as when India was known to the world as Bharat.

Karnataka Government Museum

Situated in the Heart of the City of Bangalore, it is the oldest Museum in the country. Established in 1856, it stands there at the Kasturba Marg. This Museum houses sandalwood crafts, Rajasthani embroidery, and antiques from Mohenjodaro and terracotta from Mathura. In fact, the Karnataka Museum not only reflects the Karnataka Culture, but it also has a collection of the various arts from all over the Country.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial is a museum and exhibition centre dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an Indian independence activist and political leader, at the Moti Shahi Mahal, located in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Moti Shahi Mahal is surrounded by the Sardar Open Garden, where peacocks roam free and monkeys reside in the trees. The Sardar Open Air Theatre shows documentary films in the garden on occasion. Before the palace stands a statue of Patel. Four pillars mark the four wings, one floor and central hall of the palace.

National Rail Museum

The National Rail Museum is a museum in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi which focuses on the rail heritage of India it opened on the 1 February 1977. It is located in over 10 acres (40,000 m2) of land [1] with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. A toy train offers rides around its site on regular days. The museum houses the world's oldest operational steam locomotive the 1855 built Fairy Queen certified by the Guinness Book of Records.
