Introduction

• Where? – In the East of Tg Jiu, about 40km

• 8 villages: Bustuchin (center), Cionti, Motorgi, Namete, Poina Seciuri, Poienita, Pojaru and Valea Pojarului

• Population: 3657 (2006, constantly increasing since 2000)

• First mentioned in 1516• Resources of natural oil and gaz

Where does the name come from?

• Wife of a “cioban”, named Bustuchina

• Children who built houses there and continued to cultivate sheep

• They were called “Bustuchini” (16th century)

About the population

• In 2002: 1868 men and 1841 women• 0-14 years: 811 (40 more boys)• 15-18 years: 229 (7 more boys)• 19-23 years: 276 (10 more men)• 24-35 years: 728 (42 more men)• 36-50 years: 567 (27 more women)• 51-60 years: 356 (26 more women)• > 60 years: 742 (118 more women)
