Brief history of JUAS

JUAS was founded in 1994 simultaneously with ESI (European Scientific Institute) at

Archamps – Haute-Savoie – France.

1994 – 2000 : Marcelle Rey-Campagnole

2001 – 2005 : Joël Le Duff

2006 – 2010 : François Méot

2011 – today : Louis Rinolfi

JUAS Directors :

Since 1994, more than 800 students have been trained at JUAS

Appreciation forms

The professors are evaluated by the students through an evaluation form

with a mark range between 0 and 5

Requested level Oral presentation (Pedagogy) Written documentation

Very easy = 5 Excellent = 5 Excellent = 5

As expected = 3 As expected = 3 As expected = 3

Much too high = 0 Bad = 0 Not acceptable = 0

European Credit Transfer

System (ECTS)

Students passing the exam of:

- Course 1 (“Physics of Accelerators”) could receive 10 ECTS

- Course 2 (“Technology of Accelerators”) could receive 10 ECTS

The 20 ECTS are recognized by the European Universities.

Accelerator Conference award for JUAS

Each year JUAS is allotted a grant by IPAC Committee (International Particle Accelerator Conference)

to allow one or two students to attend the conference.

There are requirements to attend IPAC:

Follow both JUAS courses Obtain the best marks at the examination

Continue in the field of particle accelerator Present work at the conference Serve as for other supported students (scientific secretary, JUAS stand, Poster, Brochures, …)
