About the Venice Biennale

• La Biennale di VeneziaThe 52nd International Art Exhibition (June 10 - November 21, 2007) is curated by Robert Storr, the first director from the United States in the history of the most famous art review in the world. The main international exhibition, set up in the Arsenale Corderie and Artiglierie and in the Padiglione Italia at the Giardini, presents about a hundred artists from all over the world. The international landscape is enriched by the exhibitions of 76 countries (a record number set by this edition) displaying works in the historical city centre.Since 2006, the Arsenale has been the permanent seat of the new Italian Pavilion, making its debut this year with an exhibition curated by Ida Giannelli and representing one of the main novelties in the 52nd Exhibition.

This past summer I attended the Venice Biennale and I was amazed at the variety and high caliber of the work I saw. This

presentation is only a tip of the “iceberg”. If you are looking for new contemporary artists to show your

students I encourage you to go on line and explore the Venice Biennale further.
