Presentation by: Tammy Waters
3.03 Identify, predict, and describe the results of transformation of plane figures: A)
Reflections, B) Translations, C) Rotations
Symmetry
• A figure has line symmetry if it can be folded in half so that two parts match exactly. The fold line is the line of symmetry.
• Rotations, reflections, and translations are called:
• Figures that are the same shape, but not necessarily the same size.
• A rotation turns a figure around a point.
Reflections
• A reflection flips a figure over a line.
Translation• A translation slides a figure in a straight
line.
Act It Out• Use models to solve a problem by acting it
out.
