EC is the complete count of all establishments Except those in Crop production and Plantation

“Too much time is taken in releasing the final results of the Economic Census Surveys…..……As the data is used in formulating developmental/welfare oriented plans and programmes, the Committee recommend that the process of releasing the economic census should be done as early as possible. The Committee hope that the 6th Economic Census which is currently being undertaken would be expedited and completed during 11th Five Year Plan itself.”

The field works should be undertaken after the completion of Population Census work, preferably after May 2011. May be got done by States/NSSO during May to October,2011 .ICR technology to be used for processing.Use of ICR facility of RGI Availability and willingness of other agencies to take up this work to be explored.

The schedule should be made simple to facilitate data collection.Results of 6th EC, including directory of establishments should be targeted for release within 6 months of the completion of the field work.
