- Cassock with purple trimmingsand fascia.

- Alb with amice.- Pontifical dalmatic.- Chasuble, pectoral cross on the

green and gold silk cord.- Zuchetto, miter & Crozier.

The “Ministers” 

The “Ministers” or servers are those whose role isderived from that of the instituted acolyte. They

assist in the sanctuary. Their ceremonial duties areessential to good liturgy. However, the proper

exercise of their ministry at the altar depends onthe regular training and discipline, together withspiritual formation and encouragement. As noted

above, they wear an alb, or cassock and surplice,or some other vestment, but not secular dress.

The Master of Ceremonies

For a liturgical celebration, especially a

celebration presided over by the bishop, to bedistinguished by grace, simplicity and order, amaster of ceremonies is needed to prepare anddirect the celebration in cooperation with the

bishop and other ministers.

 The MC should be well –versed in the history and

nature of the liturgy and in its laws and precepts.But equally he should be well –versed in pastoralscience, so that he knows how to plan liturgicalcelebrations in a way that encourages fruitfulparticipation by the people and enhances the

 beauty of the rites.

 He should seek to ensure an observance of

liturgical laws that is in accord with the true spirit

of such laws and with those legitimate traditionsof the particular Church that have pastoral value.

When to use the Miter?

- Entrance procession- Liturgy of the word- Homily- Final Blessing- And while walking or sitting

When to Remove the Miter?- Before kissing the altar (incensation,penetential rite)

- During the gospel- After the procession of the gifts.

penetential rite)-  N.B. staff first before the miter
