Letter from the ICCFM International Presidents

June 29th 2017, Queretaro, Mexico.

Dear families and youths of theChristian Family Movements, members of this InternationalConfederation, we greet you withgreat affection, wishing you peaceand joy in our Lord Jesus, joy ofknowing yourself in the mission of theLord Himself, bringing the Gospel ofthe family to more families.

For the Christian Family Movementsas an organization, and for its families, there are confronting great challengesoutcoming that will only be faced aswe consider ourselves as active partsof the Family and Youth PastoralMinistries, and integrated into theICCFM.

In the sixth chapter of the apostolicexhortation Amoris Laetitia, there is aneed to develop new pastoral paths(Cf. 199, AL), to which the leaders ofthe movements, in a similar way, haveto pause, to evaluate our structures ofservice, itinerary of formation andservice to the families, to evaluate ifwe are being answer to the families oftoday; If we are fulfilling our own task"Announcing the Gospel of thefamily today," the Synod Fathers ofthese synods (2014 and 2015) insistedthat Christian families, through thegrace of the Sacrament of Marriage, are the active subjects of familyministry , Providing "The joyouswitness of spouses and families, domestic Churches", it is a topic ofour families being able to experiencethe family's Gospel, the Gospel is joyand it fulfills our hearts and our wholelives (Cfr. 200 AL), this demands thewhole Church, to look at the family asa subject of evangelization, amissionary conversion, and arecognition and taking of actions forthe members of the Church toassume an integral human andChristian formation that allow us to"reach" families in their reality.

Letter from the ICCFM International Presidents

The mission of the Church to whichwe belong by our baptism is toproclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ toall the places of the earth, and theICCFM is an organization of theChurch, so it is also the mission of itsmembers. We are all called tocollaborate in the mission "to be Co-responsible an Solidary as members“.

The confederation is present in 43countries on five continents, and weall seek to form a large missionaryfamily, bringing the CFM to thosecountries where it does not exist yet.

Today it is presented a beautifulopportunity to support the openingof the CFM for the Vietnam families,we thank God and ask for yourprayers to be able to achieve all, as

missionary families, with our differentgifts this great mission. The AsiaContinental President Team is workingvery enthusiastic to bring this missioninto UNITY with the InternationalPresident Team, the headquartersteam, and with the countries that joinus in this mission.

We exhort you to reach out to moreparishes in the dioceses of yourcountry. The people worldwide havenot lost the sense and importance ofthe family despite the efforts ofgroups that do not favor it and theyattack it. Remember that our Lord willbe with us until the end of time.

the event.

During the event a personal gift is given to each of the participants and at another time gifts are given to them.

In the end, it finishes with a dance session of themarriages that participate in the event, culminatingwith this, the party dedicated to all the attendees.

As special guests were the diocesan presidents of MFC in Tijuana (Mexico) and two more marriages, who have supported the MFC-LA in the implementation of Kerigma retreat.

We consider that this type of personal rapprochement with the Ecclesial Assistants inthe MFC-LA, are necessary. They show gratitude and a personal interest for the priests, religious, and deacons, and it is also motivate to "see" unity among diocesan priests, religious priests and religious.

SYNOD OF BISHOPS, XV ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLYYoung people, the Faith and Vocational discernment

PREPARATORY DOCUMENT, october 2018

. The Synod on the NewEvangelization and the ApostolicExhortation Evangelii Gaudium treatedhow to accomplish this mission in today’sworld. The two synods on the family andthe Post-Synodal Apostolic ExhortationAmoris Laetitia were, instead, dedicatedto helping families find this joy.

In keeping with this mission andintroducing a new approach through aSynod with the topic, “Young People, theFaith and Vocational Discernment”

OBJECTIVEThe Church has decided to examineherself on how she can lead youngpeople to recognize and accept the callto the fullness of life and love, and to askyoung people to help her in identifyingthe most effective ways to announce theGood News today.

through a series of choices, whether thesechoices are willfully made or simplyaccepted, either consciously orunconsciously, no one is excluded frommaking these choices. The purpose ofvocational discernment is to find out howto transform them, in the light of faith, intosteps towards the fullness of joy to whicheveryone is called.

With this in mind, the present PreparatoryDocument begins the synod’s phase ofconsultation of the entire People of God.This document addressed to the synods andcouncils of Hierarchs of the Eastern CatholicChurches, the episcopal conferences, thedicasteries of the Roman Curia and theUnion of Superiors General concludes witha questionnaire with 18 questions, three ofthese specific for each geographical area, inorder to take into account the differentcontinental situations.

Proclaiming the joyof the Gospel is themission entrustedby the Lord to hisChurch

For each person, thevocation to lovetakes concrete formin everyday life.

SYNOD OF BISHOPS, XV ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLYYoung people, the Faith and Vocational discernmentPREPARATORY DOCUMENT

This Preparatory Document suggests a reflection in three steps.

1.- Beginning with summarily outlining some of the social and cultural dynamics of theworld in which young people grow and make their decisions, to propose a read in thelight of faith.

2.-The document then retraces the fundamental steps of the process of discernment, which the Church wants to offer to youths, so they can discover, in the light of faith, their own vocation.

3.- Finally, the document treats key points of a pastoral vocational for youths.

The document, therefore, is not exhaustive, but serves as a kind of route map to fostera research, whose fruits will be available only at the conclusion of the Synod. The answer of the survey would be the base of the working document or InstrumentumLaboris, that will be the reference point for the discuss of the Synodals fathers inOctober of 2018

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF THE SRI LANKA CHRISTIAN FAMILY MOVEMENT

By Pip and Wilma Cua President, CFM Continental Asia

On 1st April 2017, we joined as esteemed guests of honor together with our Continental Asia Chaplain Bishop Gerardo Alminaza the celebration of the Sri Lanka Christian Family Movement’s 50th Anniversary. The affair started with the hoisting of different flags –

a. National Flag – by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith

b. Papal Flag - by His Lordship Gerado Alminaza

c. CFM Flag – by Rev. Fr. Sunil Kumara, CFM Chaplain

at the church entrance of the St. Anne’s Church of Wattala accompanied by the melodious, gentle and warm music rendered by the St. Anne’s Convent Eastern Band. The lighting of the traditional oil lamp followed. The highlight of the affair is a thanksgiving mass in commemoration of its golden jubilee. The chief celebrant of this mass was His Eminence Dr. Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, with Bishop Alminaza as a co-celebrator.

A sumptuous lunch followed with the two hundred plus guests, invitees and CFM members to the reception hall of Clement’s Restaurant & Banquet Hall. The CFM Sri Lanka President couple, Janaka and Rashika Silva, enthusiastically welcomed the guests and members following the Golden Jubillee opening prayer rendered by Rev. Fr. Basil Wickremasinghe. Bishop Alminaza delivered an inspirational speech as Special Guest of Honor. We were also asked and so we rendered a challenging talk on the next 50 years of Sri Lanka. We asked them not only to continue CFM programs to work in having more CFM units in different parts if their country but also to help us bring CFM beyond its borders. The head of the Family and Life Ministry of Sri Lanka, Rev. Fr. Claude Nonis, delivered a talk on the on theme of the jubilee which centered on family and life.

After 50 years of CFM in Sri Lanka, we could sense a higher lever of maturity and a renewed commitment specially with the entry of young leaders like Janaka and Rashika who are still in their 40s.

We look forward to work closely and get more inputs from CFM SRI LANKA in their programs and hopefully, the holding of the next CFM Continental Asia Convention in 2018 in their beautiful country which displays a rich colonial heritage with a potpourri of races, religions and cultures.
