Rally Day: “Shaping the Faith of Our Family,” Sunday, September 11.
A special program takes the place of our traditional classes. Beginning at
9:15 a.m., members of all the Sunday School classes will attend the Faith Cen-
ters located in the FMB classrooms. Families are encouraged to participate
together. Following worship, the congregation may visit the Faith Centers
along with the Ministry Team tables. Lunch consists of hot dogs with all the
trimmings and the Kona Ice Truck (prices range $3—$5). Let’s kick off the new
Church School year in style!
Sunday Evening Book Discussion Group focuses on books that inform our
understanding of the roles religion, theology, and faith play in our lives. We
invite all our NRPC brothers and sisters to join us when we resume meeting at
7:00 on September 25, 2016. The book that will be discussed is Nathan Coul-

Boy Scout Eagle Project - Knox Gordon
As a part of his Boy Scout Eagle Project, Knox is holding a shoe drive at the
church August 14 through September 4. Thank you for your support!
The children and youth are encouraged to bring their back-
packs to worship on Sunday, August 28. Kathy Barham will pro-
vide the children’s message and the “Blessing of the Back-
packs."
VBS Outreach Project: Thanks to everyone who brought in supplies and the
VBS participants who did the packing. NRPC was able to ship 16 Clean-Up Buck-
ets to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). These buckets are sent to flood
areas around the U.S. The NRPC’s Yard Sale proceeds paid for the shipping and
an additional $1,000 went to help with domestic flood relief through PDA.
Food Drive Results: NRPC donated 115 lbs of food and supplies to the Food
Bank this month, so a big thank you for helping to restock the shelves for Wake
County families in need.
Women's Spirituality will reconvene on Sept. 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the FMB.
More details coming next week!
The mission of North Raleigh Presbyterian Church is to be a

We believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who gathers, protects and cares for the church. We believe the church is one worldwide communion of saints, called from the entire human family. We believe the church is the single community of believers, reconciled with God and with one another. We believe that through the working of God’s Spirit, unity is a binding force and also that we must seek this unity, which must become visible to the world. We believe that the sin of division, separation and hatred between people and groups has been conquered by Christ. We commit ourselves to protecting the unity of the church universal. We pledge to make this unity active in all of our words, thoughts and deeds.

The Session
“As there were in Old Testament times elders for the government of the people, so the New Testament Church provided persons with particular gifts to share in governing and ministry. Elders are chosen by the people. Together with ministers, they exercise leadership, and have responsibilities for the ministry and mission of a particular church”. –The Book of Order.

Serve God and God's people with our time, talents, and treasure. Each deacon is assigned a parish under his or her care. A parish is approxi-mately ten households.
