PREPARING FOR YOUR NEW CABINETRY Now that your cabinetry ideas have come to life it is time to prepare for the next exciting step, the installation of your new cabinetry! Custom Wardrobes & Cabinetry have put together some tips we hope will help you in the lead up to your cabinetry installation. Planning ahead will provide a smooth installation process for both yourself and the installer. As with any new cabinetry preparation, you will need to make sure the area the cabinetry is going to be installed in is clean, clear of items and ready to go. This may also include the removal of your existing cabinetry. For a streamlined process, ensure all of your personal items are boxed up and stored out of the way. Once the area is cleared, it provides a blank canvas for the installer. To allow easy access we recommend moving items that may be in the way in the main thoroughfare to the rooms we will be working in, this may include the front entrance, hallway and driveway. This will make it easier for the installer to remove any existing cabinetry if required, unpack the new cabinetry, tools and equipment, and also protects your items. Your new cabinetry will be delivered to your home the day before installation. On delivery day, make sure someone is home to accept the delivery and there is space available to store it. On installation day, you don’t need to be home for the installation to take place however, someone will need to let our installer in at the time we have arranged with you. Alternatively, let us know if you would like to make other arrangements for access into your home. It may also be a good idea to keep your pets away from the work space, for the benefit of your pets and the installer. Our friendly installers will take care to install your custom-made cabinetry in a timely and respectful manner, leaving your home as spotless as they found it and taking care to protect any surrounding areas during the installation. All installed cabinetry will be left clean and ready for use. We look forward to installing your new cabinetry and hope you enjoy the finished product!

KEY TIPS FOR REMOVAL & INSTALLATIONTo assist you in preparing for your installation, we have compiled some key tips below relevant to different types of cabinetry you may be installing. To allow you enough time, we recommend

completing these activities within a week before your scheduled install date.

As always, if you have any questions in the lead up to your installation day please do not hesitate to contact us.

• If we are removing an existing wardrobe, make sure all clothing and items have been removed from the hanging rods, drawers and cupboards.

• If you have decided to remove an existing wardrobe yourself, we recommend you do any patching and painting of walls (if required) prior to the install. This will make it easier for you so you don’t have to work around the new cabinetry and it will give you a neater finish.

• It is also an opportunity to sort through any unwanted clothing and donate to your local charity!

• If possible, move any bedding or furniture in the room to another room to allow maximum space for the installer.

• Make sure any loose wall hangings in the room are removed prior to the install.

• Dependent on the type of benchtop you have chosen for your laundry cabinetry, you may be unable to use your laundry for up to a week. Laminate benchtops will generally be installed at the same time as your cabinetry, while stone benchtops may be up to 1 week later.

• Review your calendar and make plans to pre-wash any required clothing for the week.

• Large laundry appliances will need to be temporarily relocated to allow enough room for the installer.

• Pack up all your washing detergents and items currently in your laundry.

• Dependent on the type of benchtop you have chosen for your bathroom vanity, you may be unable to use your bathroom for up to a week. Laminate benchtops will generally be installed at the same time as your cabinetry, while stone benchtops may be up to 1 week later.

• Plan to utilise another bathroom within your home, and move all items from the cabinetry to the temporary bathroom.

As the most important room in the house, it is essential that food is still readily available and that your personal belongings are protected during the renovation process.

The completion of a Custom Wardrobes & Cabinetry kitchen may, at the most, take up to 4 weeks to complete so it is best to consider the following in the lead up to your install day:

• Start preparing ahead of time by packing the kitchenware and pantry items you won’t need during the installation period into boxes and make sure to protect breakable items.

• Set aside essential items that you will need to access on a regular basis by arranging a temporary kitchen. This can be achieved by allocating another room in the house, such as the family room or dining room, and relocating your fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster for ease of access and use. It is also a great time to put the outdoor barbeque to good use!

• Stock up on microwave meals and food items that won’t require cleaning up.

• It is also a beneficial time to clean out any unwanted kitchen supplies or clutter and makes it easier when it comes to putting everything back into the kitchen.

• Store your boxes away from workspaces and access ways - garage, laundry or spare rooms are popular options.

• Protect furniture and items close to the kitchen by removing for the time being, or covering with an old sheet or tarp.

• Relocate your pet’s food bowls at least a week prior to the installation to prevent them from becoming confused during the installation.
