AL-Ahli Contribution: 20.37% = 334.900 EURO

• AWEP is a pioneer project in Palestine that is funded by the EU . This project will directly benefit Al-Ahli Hospital from the Wind Energy .

• Wind Turbine and Solar Thermal System will be used to achieve the goal of the project.

• Objectives • To produce ~30-40 % of the hospital Power needs.• To reduce the environmental costs, such as carbon emissions.• To provide the hospital with an alternative source of power.• Increasing the awareness of the local community• Building the capacity of the hospital’s staff and its associates.

2,238,545 KWh/year. • Electricity consumption Invoice on 2009 = 240,000 €.• Diesel consumption invoice on 2009 = 245,950 €• Total energy consumption = 4,029,590 KWh/year • Total energy bill = 485,950 €

The total operating Hours , “the wind speed above cut in speed” , of the wind turbine per year : 5800 Hours .

Wind Turbine Expected Outcome

• Electricity Saving from wind turbine = 330,000 KWh/year / 1,791,045 KWh/year *100% = 18.4 % per year.

• Saving of electricity bill = 18.4% * 240,000 € = 44,160 €.

Solar Thermal Expected Outcome

• The daily energy required from the SWHS is 50% of the daily thermal energy consumption, which equals 2.238.545X50% = 1.119.272

• Our SWHS (Solar Water Heating System) is designed to save 1,200,000 Kwh/year; this is equivalent to a saving of 53.6% (3287Kwh/day).

• The average solar radiation on the horizontal surface in Palestine is 5400wh/m2/day.

• The area of the solar collector is 2.55m2• The number of the necessary solar collectors is 355. • Each collector of this type has a supposed production of (0.77 Kwh).• The total area of the collectors is 905m2.• The hot water storage tank capacity is 5X4 m3.• The daily production of the SWHS is 23.0 m3 (at 70cº).• The annual production of SWH is 8395.5m3.

• Thermal energy Saving from Solar Thermal = 1,200,000 KWh/year / 2,238,545 KWh/year *100% = 53.6% per year.

• Saving of diesel bill = 53.6% * 245,950 € = 131829.2 €

• Total Energy Saving From Wind & Solar = 329552 KWh\year + 1,200,00 KWh/year / 4,029,950 KWh/year * 100% = 37.9 % per year.
