Bhava or feeling transforms the action into Karma Yoga!

Prema Vahini E-Newsletter from Mukthi Nilayam

    Nectar 3, Drop 7 23rd July, 2012

B y performing all our daily Karmas as offerings to God, we will attain the tranquility and peace that we have been searching for. How should we perform

Karma as an offering to God?

There were two weavers. One is an ordi-

nary weaver, the other weaver is Kabir-

das, who as he works, recites the name of Lord Rama, sings songs in praise of Him

and thinks that the cloth he weaves is for

the Lord. Both men go to the market, sell

their wares and receive money. Along

with the material wealth, which they both

enjoy, Kabirdas gets a bonus in the form

of Bhakthi. This is spiritual wealth. Through offering his work to God,

    Kabirdas has elevated ordinary weav-

ing to the higher status of Karma Yoga.

Korakumba was a potter. He used to sing

the name of God while making his pots.

    The ordinary potter makes earthenware

vessels and pots, sells them and makes a living. As Korakumba combined his work

with Bhakthi, he is honored as a Karma

Yogi and received the grace of God. With

a change in our outlook, ordinary actions

can be turned into Karma Yoga. One re-

ceives a lot of benefit from dedicating

actions at the feet of the Lord. The Karma

Yogi leads his worldly life but at the same

time secures the affection of God.

When I wake up, I usually pray that my

hands should be the ones that give and

not take from others. Before I put my feet

on the floor I touch it and pray that

Mother Earth give me the same tolerance she has. She tolerates even those who excavate her! Like this, I combine each

of my daily tasks with God. When I

brush my teeth, I mentally recite the slo-

kas (verses) from the Gita. Before I start

cooking I write, „Om Sri Sai Ram‟ on the

stove and the food processor. When I

light the stove, I say, „Matru devo

    bhava, pitru devo bhava and

    Aacharya devo bhava‟ (Mother is

God, Father is God, Guru is God). I

start my cooking after praying to

Agni Deva (god of fire) and consider

the stove itself is a Yagna Kund. I pray

that the food that is prepared from this ritual fire must give Satva Guna to

all. In this way, everyday cooking

    becomes Yoga.

When I was in Australia, more than

    300 people attended the Krishna

Jayanthi function in the house where I

    was staying. Swami had instructed

me to give Prema Shakthi to all those

who came there. I asked Swami

would it be useful for so many peo-

ple. In reply, Swami related the fol-

    lowing story.

    Parvathi asked her consort Shiva

whether all those who took a bath in the Holy Ganges would gain salva-

tion. Shiva replied that it was not so.

With a view to explain this further,

Shiva and Parvathi came to earth in

the guise of an old, ailing couple. As

    her husband lay sick, Parvathi

    pleaded with those who were

returning after their dip in the

Ganges that if anyone of them

cleansed of sin would give a

glass of water to her husband,

    he would be cured.

Echoes of Devotion - Amma, You are our everything … We have offered our hearts to You, for all that exists is You:

You are the life of our lives

    You are our hope, our peace; You are our wisdom and our strength;

    You are our refuge when the storm bursts;

You are our only friend, our only kin

You are our present and our future

You are our path, our destination

You are our guide and our protector

You are our ever Gracious Guru

You are the Spring of boundless, everlasting Ananda

You are the indweller of our hearts

You are the gardener of this garden called Cosmos

You are the Mother of this Creation

You are the Chariotteer who carries us from this battlefield called mun-

dane life and brings us to our home, to our Father

We have offered our hearts to You, for all that exists is You...

To her surprise, she found that there was not one person who had complete faith and

confidence that all their sins had been absolved. Consequently, no one stepped for-

ward to help her. At last, a criminal was seen returning from the Ganges. He did not

hesitate in fulfilling Parvathi‟s request as he had complete faith that the sacred

Ganges had cleansed him of all sin. Since he was now purified, he gave the water to

„the old man‟ who in turn was cured.

What does this infer? Swami has said that whoever receives Prema Shakthi from me

in full faith would gain benefit in their spiritual life. Though thousands go to the Ganges, only a few believe that they will become free of sins. Even though so many people take a bath, that act only becomes Yoga if they truly believe so. That Bhava

or feeling transforms the action into Karma Yoga and results in spiritual eleva-

tion. The one who does not have this conviction remains an ordinary man. When we

continually adopt such feelings and attitudes, our very thoughts become purified.

Devotional feelings transform ordinary work into Yoga.

When we offer our actions to God, the impurities of the mind are slowly re-

moved, thus elevating the feelings we have towards Him.

    Ekohum Bahushyam

E veryday Vimala picks the flowers and places them in a basket for archana. Today when I was performing archana, I was looking at the white

flowers. All were identical in length and size. Even

if there were twins, there would be some differ-

ences in them. How is it that here all look exactly

    the same?

In Mukthi Nilayam there are many trees filled with these white flowers.

    The blossoms fall to

    the ground. These

    flowers have no

    identity: no „my

    name, my native

    place, my clan, my

    caste, no „i‟. All of

    them are the same.

    They never say, “I

was born on this tree, you were born on that tree.”

They do not talk like that. If all the flowers were

placed in one basket and shown to one of the trees,

the tree could not say, “These flowers belong to me.” This is like the Atma. The flowers are showing

“I am the Atma.” Atma has no name and form, no

place, time, nothing. The flower knows that it has

been born, but does not know whom its parents are. What wonderful flowers! If there is a world

where all the human beings are like these flow-

ers, how would it be? There would be no differ-

ences between you and I. All would be the same.

This is the brotherhood of humanity, the family of

    man.

These flowers are full of honey. The trees are very

tall and the flowers grow at the top of the tree. So

how does the flower become full of honey? Is there

a honey production line inside the tree? This is the Aswatta tree come to earth. It is Vaikunta on earth,

    the New Creation.

Every citizen of the world is the son of eternal Am-rith. The Sathya Yuga will be like this. All will be

without ‘i’. In the body there will be no human

blood circulating, it will be amrith blood. The

body will be full of amrith. These trees do not feed

on their own amrith, but pour it outside. This is like

    the Sathya Yuga.

I t is declared in the scriptures, „Ekohum Bahushyam‟, the One manifests as many. Instead of saying there is only one Atma, why is it said that the One has become many? The

use of the word „many‟, means there are more than one. Does

it mean that there are many Atmas? What is „many‟ and what

    does it indicate?

When we say the „One‟, what is this One? It is the Atma!

Though the Atma does not have name and form, we still use the word One to indicate it. How to represent this „One‟? We

can draw a vertical line; „|‟, this is the form for the word

    „One‟.

What is „many‟? It is the creation. The one Atma becomes the

many in creation. God is the one Atma and He becomes the

many in creation. Swami and I have come to show this Truth.

In order to demonstrate the principle, „Ekohum Bahushyam‟,

the Atma has been given the form and name „Vasantha‟ in-

stead of the form and name of the One. How did this One, Vasantha with a name and form, become the many? It is by

attaining Oneness with the nameless formless God.

How did this Atma, Vasantha attain Oneness with the name-

less and formless God? What penance did she do? She had

one pointed devotion, intense thirst and yearning to unite with God in the name and form of Sai. Her boundless love wanted

Him and Him alone. Mad with love for the Lord she felt that it

was not enough to hold Him with two hands; she wanted a

thousand hands, a thousand mouths, a thousand eyes to enjoy

His name and form. Still dissatisfied, she cried, “I should

make all in the world Vasantha, to catch hold of You.” This love

for the Lord is the basis for her attainment. She built a beauti-

ful palace called New Creation on the foundation of her love.

My one-pointed love for Swami expands as New Creation

    to become the Sathya Yuga.

V illages around the Ashram are going through severe shortage of drinking water due to the recent drought conditions. Both ground water & the Corporation supplied water are very saline. Villagers had to trek for about 2 Kms to get one pot of sweet potable water. To help alleviate the sufferings of these villagers, by the Grace

of Amma & Swami, we have undertaken a project to supply purified drinking water on a regular basis. A processing

plant has been set up for purifying the ground water to make it potable. We have also purchased a water tanker of

capacity 5000 liters and a Tractor to transport the water to villages. Local village administrations have been re-

quested to provide storage tanks in common place & take up the responsibility of distribution within the village.

Project will soon be kick started after the water quality check is certified by the Govt officials.

    Service Projects - An update

    Drinking water supply to villages

Notebook distribution & evening tuitions to village children

    Narayana Seva

F ree notebooks were distributed to around 40,000 students belonging to 455 Elementary and Middle Schools located in & around Mukthi Nilayam. Nearly 200,000 notebooks were handed over to the respective school Principals at a function held in June 2012.

To prevent school drop-outs and help the village children excel in studies & attain good education, the trust has ar-

ranged for Tuition centers in 30 village schools, where the students stay back after their school hours and do their

homework & assignments. Trust pays the tuition teachers and does regular audits to ensure the program is running

successfully. This program has been welcomed by everyone, and there are demands to start more centers like this.

Trust is unable to expand this service to other needy schools, due to paucity of funds.

    I n a recent Narayana seva pro-gram at a local temple festival conducted on 18 & 19th July, more

than 10,000 peopled were fed with

    wholesome food and more than

    100,000 people relished the butter

milk supplied. People trek all along

from their native villages to get the darshan of the Lord.

    Feelings creation …

    Nectar 3, Drop 7 Page 5

I t is from the Garbha Kottam our feelings go out to the world, filling the Space, through the Stupi. Everywhere Siva Par-vathi marriage will be performed. Everyone‟s Kundalini Moolad-

hara Parvathi will unite with Siva in the Ajna Chakra. This is Siva

Parvathi marriage. Siva‟s Kama-dahanaa that burns lust and

Parvathi‟s penance , come together and change mankind; the

    New Creation is born.

This is a strange creation. Here, Kama-Dahanaa and penance

come together and make the creation. This is feelings connec-

tion, feelings creation, without body connection. It is through

feelings alone man is born. It is man‟s every feeling, which be-

comes deep impressions that decide his birth.

Echoes of Devotion - A speck of orange!

It is Swami‟s Avataric task that shows this. This creation is made by Sathya and Prema together. Kaama-Dahanaa

is a state where there is not a single trace of desire. This is called Sathya. Prema means penance, prema itself is the

penance. When love is shown to all, it becomes penance.

    Sing His Name!

    Expansion is Bliss

    Narayana is within and without

    Sing this beautiful Lord’s name

He rules in the temple of my heart

He is the savior of my soul!

How to know all is Truth? I will

show you the path that I fol-

lowed. First, realizing all is per-

    ishable, you should go within;

    God alone is the imperishable

    One. You should perform sad-

    hana and search deeper and

deeper within until you see God,

the Indweller of the heart. This is

Atma Darshan, the vision of the

    Self.

After this, when you see the

world, you will see God every-

where. On the other hand, if you

were to dismiss all as Maya, say-

ing, „this is Maya, that is Maya,

not this, not that‟, you will be left

with the feeling of dislike for

    God‟s creation. Life will seem

    dry. Therefore, one should not

    continuously follow the path of

    negation.

He should tell instead, „This is

God, that is also God. Mother

is God, Father is God. Child is

God, friend is God. All are

    mine. I am theirs‟.

In this way, one should unite

with all and share an expan-

sive love. Such a love will be-

    stow bliss. Life will become

    blissful. We should expand

the circle of love by thinking

    that all is God.

We should think, „this is my

family, all are my friends, my

    neighbors, the street, the vil-

lage, all belong to me‟. By link-

ing hands with all, one experi-

    ences universal love.

One feels, „the entire world is

mine. Oh! What bliss! Is not

    this divine bliss?‟

If you say, „no, no, all is Maya‟, you are cut-

ting yourself off from the source. My path

unites all through love. All is God. Every-

where is God. This is bliss! This is libera-

    tion! This is freedom!
