a. Title of your work. Make sure to apply built-in Heading 1 (see below for instructions regarding Headings)

b. Choose the type of work, Thesis, Dissertation, etc.c. Choose your degree and major d. Enter your Name e. Choose the last month and year of the semester in which you will be completing your work.

a. Enter your full name in the same format as entered in page ib. Choose the current year

a. Enter the title of your work b. Enter your name. Make sure it matches the format in which it was entered in page i and iic. Enter full name of your degree. If you are unsure of the formal name of the degree in which you are

enrolled in, you can simply search for your degree under the SFSU Bulletin.d. Enter the required information of each of your committee members: Name, Degree and Faculty Rank.

IF your committee consists of less than four members, delete unnecessary lines.

1. Using built-in Headings: Highlight the title, select Heading 2 from the Styles section under the Home tab

IF the Heading changes the formatting (font size color) of your title, you can simply edit it to the original format after selecting the proper Heading Style.

Title on page 1 should use Heading 2:

Subtitles should use built-in Heading 3. If you have subsections, heading should be used accordingly (Heading 4, Heading 5, etc.)

2. Insert Page BreaksInsert a page break before the start of each new chapter/major section

Place your cursor at the end of the preceding section and go to, Insert > Page Break.

3. Tables Table Titles: Select the table title. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, select heading style Table Title

Select the Alt Text tab Skip the Title field (you have already added that to the page). Enter a description of the

contents of the table, click OK

Table Header Row Select the table header, then Select Design Tab in Table Tools Check Header Row

4. FiguresFigure Title Apply built-in style to all figure titles. Type Figure # and a title above each figure. Then:

Select the figure title. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, select heading style Figure Title

Enter a description of the figure. If there is additional explanatory or contextual information that you would like to share with all readers, save that for the caption.

Exit out of the dialog box when finished.

5. References/Bibliography/Works Cited Make sure to use built in Heading 2 Be sure to format your references in accordance with whichever style is recommended

for your discipline. APA style guidelines MLA style guidelines CMS style guidelines
