Preconference Prep
Government Workforce 2020 will be similar to an ATD in-person conference (minus the sore feet), and we want to ensure you’re ready to get the most out of it. Here are some tips:
> KEEP UP THE CONNECTION We’re excited for Government Workforce 2020 and hope you are too. Engage with us and the rest of the Government Workforce 2020 community before, during, and after the event by connecting with others on ATD’s social media channels and using the hashtag #ATDGovernmentWorkforce.
> CHANNEL YOUR INNER-TECH GURU
We’re partnering with Pathable on our virtual event platform, which you can access on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. To attend Government Workforce 2020 on the Pathable platform, we strongly recommend using the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers for the best viewing experience. If you’re unable to access Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, we recommend downloading the mobile app from the Apple or Google Play app stores; search for ATD Virtual Events and then choose ATD Goverment Workforce.
> GET DOWNLOADED
Install Zoom Client for Meetings to participate in private meetings or group discussions like the GovConnect forums. If you will not be participating in private meetings or group discussions, you will not need to download Zoom; the sessions will be viewable within the virtual platform and mobile app. But we highly recommend downloading the app to take advantage of these networking opportunities.

Government Workforce 2020 is designed to share talent management, leadership, and workforce learning best practices and has an emphasis on practical application and implementation across government agencies. This training event employs sessions that highlight collaboration and innovation in the learning environment through real-world projects agencies use to deliver their mission goals.

With a mix of live keynote presentations, live panel sessions, and on-demand sessions, you’re able to be an agent of your own experience and make Government Workforce 2020 relevant to your needs. Let’s get virtual with it.
Approach your virtual journey as you would map your physical experience at a live conference. Review our session listings under the Program tab with the virtual platform to build your schedule and “can’t-miss” list. The easiest way to do this is to check the plus button next to the session. You can also click into the session to get more details then reserve your spot.

> Join our live panel sessions to participate in the discussion with the experts. You won’t want to miss these!
> On-demand sessions are available 24/7 for your viewing pleasure. Our on-demand sessions are listed under September 1 on the Agenda tab.

Attending a conference, whether live or virtual, provides a much-needed change of scenery and a mindset shift. We recommend finding a new place (separate from where you currently work) in which to attend the conference to help you think differently as well as create, craft, and design your journey.
CREATE THE ATMOSPHERE > Find a quiet place (as much as possible given any new co-workers).
> Consider using headphones or ear buds. You’ll be able to hear (and focus) a lot better on the content.
> Join us for the Government Workforce 2020 orientation session on September 2 at 10 a.m. EDT.
READY, SET, CONNECTNetworking and engaging with other attendees will be easy and ongoing throughout Government Workforce 2020. We’ve put together some pointers to help you navigate the virtual networking experience.
> Establish your presence at the conference and set up your profile within the virtual platform. Setting up a complete and accurate profile will allow your peers with similar skills and interests to connect with you. Profile attributes such as role, company, and so forth on your profile are searchable within the People tab.
> Join the session chats to share your thoughts about the content and connect with your colleagues about the session you’re currently attending.
> Use the session polls feature to direct your questions to our speakers. Don’t forget to upvote questions that you’d like answered.
> Network with your colleagues in our networking forums. See which of our topical groups piques your interest and get in on the conversation.
> Schedule a private meeting with other attendees or our sponsors to connect about their products and services. Private meetings use the free version of Zoom and are held to these limitations (limit of 40 minutes and so on.)
