SAVES TIME Time consuming site operations such aspropping and shuttering wet concrete arevirtually eliminated thus having a positiveeffect on the construction project.
IMMEDIATE PLATFORM Once the Acheson & Glover floor unitshave been placed in position andgrouted, they provide an immediateworking platform for all follow-on trades. This reduces site delays to a minimum.
NO PROPPING In most cases propping is not requiredwith Hollowcore flooring, saving timeand money. The area below the floorremains free from congestion allowingother trades to progress unhindered.
DESIGN FLEXIBILITYPrestressed Hollowcore floors can bedesigned to suit a very wide range ofbuildings and meet most project criteria.
QUALITY FINISHState of the art manufacturing techniquesensure a quality finish. Direct decorationusing suitable materials is possible inmany projects.
DIAPHRAGM ACTIONOnce the Acheson & Glover units havebeen grouted they can be assumed to provide a floor providing fulldiaphragm action.

COMPOSITE FLOORINGHollowcore flooring can be combined with an insitustructural concrete topping to form a composite slab. This allows the engineer to tie in other details such asbalconies, maximum load distribution and minimumstructural depth.
FINAL PRODUCT TESTINGIn addition to Acheson & Glovers commitment to useonly top quality raw materials, which are tested bothin-house and independently to confirm quality,Hollowcore floor units are routinely and randomlyselected from the production line and load tested for compliance using industry standard practices.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENTAcheson & Glover continually review products in light of both in-house and external research anddevelopment work which has been carried out onPrestressed Hollowcore units throughout Europe andbeyond. This helps ensure that we remain at theforefront of Hollowcore unit technology and thecustomer obtains the best utilization of our products.

PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE DESIGN
SERVICE OPENINGSService Openings, with a diameter less than 75mm,can be created through units after installation bydrilling centrally through the cores. You must consultwith our design office before commencing this work.
Generally service openings up to 400mm wide in asingle standard unit width are permitted subject tosatisfying design criteria. These should be factoryformed.
Openings up to 1200mm can usually beaccommodated, subject to design criteria, usingstructural steel hangers supplied by Acheson & Gloverat an extra cost.
All service openings formed by Acheson & Glover are to be made good by the main contractor afterinstallation of service pipes etc.
Hollowcore units can be used for a collapsed design, please contactour technical department or consult our website for full details.

FIRE RESISTANCEAcheson & Glover Prestressed Hollowcore floor units have a minimum 1 hour fire rating (BS8110 Section 4Table 4.9). Ratings of up to 2 hours can be achieveddepending on design criteria. Contact our technicaldepartment for details.
SOUND RESISTANCEAcheson & Glover Hollowcore floor units have a high resistance to both impact and airborne soundtransmission and contribute to satisfying the latestbuilding regulations.
FINISHESOur units are cast on heated steel casting beds, providing a high standard of finish, to Type A, Clause6.11.3 of BS8110, and are suitable in appropriate casesfor direct decoration. The soffit is suitable for directapplication of a textured paint finish where this isapplied in accordance with the manufacturers
instructions. Plaster finishes are not recommended onlonger spans, but where intended, it may be necessaryto use a bonding agent in accordance with plastermanufacturer instructions.
CAMBERPrestressed units have an inherent upward camber andappropriate allowance should be made in finishes tocater for this.
Camber should not normally exceed L/300.
Differential Cambers will arise with units of differentlengths or where changes in span direction occur.

The weight of screeds and finishes must be deducted from the loadings shown.
SoundThe minimum density of theAcheson & Glover T-Beam andBlock Floor complete with 75mmbonded screed is 415kg/m2. This floor can therefore provideequivalent resistance to transmissionof airborne or impact sound, to a solid concrete floor.
DesignThe floors are designed by Acheson & Glover to supportloadings appropriate to theirintended use, eg. as dwellings or as offices. Generally we are alsoable to allow for non-loadbearingpartition walls in our design.Technical support is available from Acheson & Glover, who will be pleased to offer technical advice on any specific application.
T-Beam FloorThe Acheson & Glover T-Beam offers a cost effective structuralflooring option. It is particularly suitable where the infill depthexceeds 600mm and where a structural floor is required bybuilding control.

Does not require propping during installation- in most cases
Suitable for concentrated point loads
Suitable for HA/Traffic loadings
Easiest way of achieving progressivecollapse detail
No modification required for buildingsover four stories
Suitable for the creation of compositebeam designs with steel or concrete
Can achieve a continuous floor design

Lattice Girder Plate FlooringWideslab and voidform - composite floors using lattice girdernormally consists of a temporarily propped precast plank, whichcontains most of the bottom reinforcement in addition to thelattice girder, which also acts as fully participating permanentformwork in conjunction with the insitu structural topping.
In situations where self weight must be minimised, the latticegirder planks can be supplied with polystyrene void-formersbonded to their upper surface. These are then incorporatedwithin the insitu topping.
Composite lattice girder floors can be designed to providediaphragm action to transmit horizontal forces to the primarysupporting structure.

A composite precast concrete floor that provides amechanical connection between the plate and the screed.
Like the prestressed plate floor, lattice girder floors aresuitable for high point loadings and traffic loadings.
A progressive collapse detail is easily achieved, structuralelements can be tied in and it is suitable for use in tall buildings.
The plank, which contains most of the reinforcement, mustbe temporarily propped while additional reinforcementis tied into the lattice girder and the topping added.
