Back-filling will increase the loading capabilities and form a safe working platform at the perimetre of the walls. Agri U-Walls (without heel) are designed to form the internal dividing walls of silage clamps and storage bays in the same manner of the T-Walls, however Agri U-Walls without heel are designed to be filled with earth/aggregates to form a safe working platform when sheeting. This channel can also be used for drainage purposes or storage of gravel bags. CBS can also supply a staircase unit that slot in to the U wall channel, providing steps to a safe working platform. The no heel design allows for the units to be placed on to an existing laser level floor without the need for any groundwork.

Respecting the instructions for use will prolong the lifespan of our products and provide optimal functionality. The elements must always be placed on a surface that offers adequate support and an equal consolidation ratio for the entire area.

The user is fully responsible for assessing and carrying out any improvements to the stability of the substrate. A foundation of stabilised sand with a minimum cement ratio of 150kg/m³ is applied to the substrate. The thickness of this layer depends on the substrate. The stabilised sand is applied at least seven days before the elements are installed. This foundation is applied with an excess width of at least 10cm with respect to the base of the elements and ensures equal support for the elements.

During installation, a filler layer of not yet hardened stabilised sand is used to correct any possible differences in elevation of the foundations of the elements. For elements measuring 3 metres or higher we advise that a foundation of stone rubble is placed under the sand cement bed. A calculation note is available for each standard element. This can be requested free of charge.

For each retaining wall the soil used to fill the side of the base must always be taken into account and have an equivalent mass of 1,800kg/m³, in combination with a load of 1,000 kg/m² or extra stacking soil with an equal mass of 1,800 kg/m³ under a maximum slope of 8/4 (27°). A calculation note can always be produced for heavier loads.

The use of our Agri Walls should be limited in accordance with the calculation note provided by our engineering department. A minimum dry matter content for maize of 33% must be observed due to the aggressive behaviour of the leachate. The minimal dimension of the chopped silage should be more than 10mm. The allowed values of the silage inclination,

density and angle of shearing resistance, as well as the allowed axle load mentioned in this calculation note should be respected. The calculation notes also provide the minimal earth fill height needed inside the U-Type Walls, and at the back of the L-Type Walls.

The minimum thickness of the (concrete or asphalt) floor on top of the T-Type Wall base, if required, should be in accordance with the calculation note as well.

Our concrete meets with the most severe demands in aggressive chemical environments, in accordance with EN 206 - exposure class XA3. However, for very severe chemical attack outside the limits of XA3, additional protective measures should be taken, e.g. for silage clamps and biogas installations. We strongly recommend the use of an Epoxy resin coating, combined with a plastic covering system that covers the toe (20cm) of the wall and the entire vertical wall.

The calculation notes of our retaining walls are compiled in accordance with the Eurocodes (BS EN) and UK National Annexes. For agricultural use, reference is also made to BS 5502-22:2003+A1:2013.

The buyer declares to have been adequately informed about the properties and possible applications for the goods sold.

The buyer agrees to only use the goods for their intended purpose. He/she bears full responsibility for exceeding the recommended stacking heights and the recommended loads.

The Agri U-type Walls must always be filled with soil before they can be used for their intended use.

CBS Concrete Products can never be held liable for damages resulting from the failure to respect the instructions for use. Any applicable warranties are also excluded if these instructions are not fully complied with.
