Reading TextSome historians call Archimedes the father of experimental Science because he was the first to test his ideas by conducting experiments. Archimedes designed pulley system led to the construction of machines that are capable of moving heavy loads easily. His discovery on a better way to determine the value of pi (the ration of a circumference of a circle to its diameter) made it possible to solve many problems involving the area of circles and the volume of cylinders.Archimedes was the first person to use method now used in Calculus.
