4.5 Existing Infrastructure:
There is no existing infrastructure is available in the lease area. All necessary
infrastructures will be developed before mining operation commenced. Site
services as per Mines Rules 1956 will be developed. First-Aid station with all
necessary medical facilities, Toilets as per the provisions of Mines Rules will be
developed. Regular medical checkup of the mine employees will be carried out
as per the provisions of Mines Rules 1956.
4.6 Soil classification:
The district Gir Somnath is divided into four regions on the basis of distinctive
soil characteristics.
Black Soil : Una, Gir-Dadhada, Kodinar and Talala talukas have black
soil.
Calcareous Soil : Veraval and Sutrapada talukas have Calcareous soil.
Blakish Soil : Along the coastal belt of Veraval, Una and Gir-Dadhada
talukas have Blakish Soil.
Lili Nagher: A strip between Veraval, Kodinar, Una and Gir-Gadhada is
known as “Lili Nagher”
The most part of the district is leveled. So the leveled area is fertile for
agriculture purpose. The black cotton soil is composed largely of clay material.
Regional geology & local geology:
a) Regional geology:-
The rock formation belong to late Pleistocene to early Holocene age and designated
as miliolite formation occupies the Saurasthra coastal plain extending from
northwest of Porbandar to near Gopnath point in Bhavnagar district. this
formation overlaps the Pleistocene and Miocene rock and occurs directly over the
Deccan trap formation of upper cretaceous to Paleocene age toward the north and
east.
The regional stratigraphic sequence is given in table.
Prepared by M/s Udaipur Min-Tech. Pvt .Ltd

The rock of milolite formation along the coastal have the appearance of dirty white,
friable oolitic, calcarinite, further inland but still along the coastal plains, these are
somewhat purer, well consolidated, white oolite limestone.
The rock occur in bed which show a gentle seaward dip of 5° to 14°. The rock are
extensively cross –laminated showing dune type current bedding. alterneting
coarse and fine grained lamination are comman. they occur at various level, in the
coastal plains, along the miliolite, belonging to the common foraminifera present in
profusion in the rock. composition –wise, the rock are extremely variable ranging
from near pure limestone devoid of sand to calcareous sandstone and clay
limestone.
The rock formation oriented as beach sediment formed in agitated, warm and very
shallow water. they were subsequently cemented by calcspar precipitated from sea

17
Aher bhagwan bhimshi C/O Ajotha Limestone Mine M/S Sorath Minerals Trading Company
saturated with CaCO3 the warm, shallow, circulating water were favorable living
areas for marine organisms which have left their in shells and fecal pellets.
The occurrence of the Pleistocene beach limestone all over tertiary coastal plains
fringing the Deccan trap plateau and deep in the interior of the deccan trap country
at high elevation, tend to lead to the conclusion that during Pleistocene at high
elevation, tend to lead conclusion that during Pleistocene period the sea level stood
much higher that at present. this may be true in respect of the areas of the coastal
plain and the foothill region. But the occurrence of the miliolite rock at higher
elevation in interior areas also point to an Aeolian origin indicating that the wind
blow particles from the fragmented beach sediment might have been deposited in
the valleys of the high hill which acted as natural wind barrier and the sea need
not have transgressed to such great height in order to form the thinner layer of
milionite rock at such higher altitude.
b) Local Geology
The lease area has been subjected to manual mining isolated pit exposing the lower
layer of the limestone formation. the undisturbed area is also covered by the
limestone. the limestone is followed downwards by a thin layer of clay resting
unconformably over the basement trap rock of the deccan trap formation. The trap
rock has not been drilled into and exposures of the same are also not seen in the
vicinity. The local stratigraphy sequence as could be deciphered from the limited
drilling data is presented in table below

Limestone- a part of limestone has already been mined out manually from about
small pits within the lease area the maximum thickness of the limestone horizon
within the lease is about 8-10 meters. whereas thickness of chemical grade varies
from 5 to 7 miter and thickness of cement grade is 3m.
Gaj bed – the lease represented by a thin layer of brownish clay underlying the
limestone. this consist predominantly of brown colored clay and calcareous.
4.7 Climatic details
The climate is moderate and temperature range from 38°C during summer to
about 12°C.during winter. average annual rainfall is 400 to 500mm which
received during monsoon season from June to September. Predominant wind
direction is SW-NE. generally wind blow with a velocity of 10-12 km/hr in all
season. Relative humidity varies from 50% to95%
4.8 Social Infrastructure
The infrastructure like, toilets, first aid stations etc. will be provided inside the
applied area.
The nearest village is Ajotha, health & educational facilities (in the form of
primary schools) are available there.
Medical facilities, Primary Health Centre are there in the area, imparting
services, for advance medical facilities. In each village one health worker has
been appointed by the Govt. to provide primary health facilities.
The water required will be available by the local water well department in the
lease area and through water tanker.
Communication services like post office and telephones are available in the
nearby village. Some of the villagers are having mobile phones.
An occupational health unit will be organized and the proposed measures will
be adopted:
Pre & Periodical Medical Checkup program for all the workers.

Safety equipment i.e. dusts mask, safety shoes, gloves etc.
5. PLANNING BRIEF
5.1 Planning concept
It is proposed to produce 3,00,000 MT of Limestone from the lease area. It is
situated in Gir Somnath District of Gujarat.
5.2 Population projection
Man power requirement for mining is estimated to be 67 Nos. Most of the
employees will be recruited from neighboring village depending upon the
availability of skilled & unskilled people. Migration of highly educated and
skilled person will take place but it will be on temporary basis. So there will no
permanent migration of people, hence there will be no population projection.
