In today's competitive world, preparation for any exam needs to be systematic and methodical. To

be successful, you need to put in hard work with lot of dedication and discipline but at the same

Set realistic goals to achieve your dreams. Only by setting and meeting realistic goals can you

achieve success. Goals help you to stay focused on what you want to achieve. Write down your

goals, and believe in yourself and take daily consistent action because there are no limits to what

you can achieve once you get truly focused on the end goal.

Do not fret over failures. Every attempted goal includes the possibility of failure as well as that of

success. Failure is one of the toughest things to deal with and happens frequently. But this stage of

failure is only temporary and will pass. Try to take advantage of a failure by analyzing what you could

have done differently. Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

Work hard and smart. Hardworking is something that makes someone delve into the subject but

smart working is to manage resources in a given time effectively. You must be able to visualise

which individual information to put where and eliminate unnecessary ones. In today's cut throat

competition, you need to not just work hard, but also work smart.

Focus on the approach to solve problems fast. To obtain a good rank in competitive exams, just

solving a problem is not enough. We must focus on how to solve a problem very fast and that too

without compromising on accuracy. Speed can be increased only by a better approach to solve

the problem in a very relaxed manner rather than solving by longer method and hurriedly

skipping steps. Make it a habit to solve the same problem using alternative approach.

After all, success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and

most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

PRADEEP AGARWAL - FOUNDER AND FACULTYPradeep Agarwal was a recipient of various scholastic achievements while he was a student.

lHe received the NTSE Scholarship at a time when a small number of students used to get it.

lHe topped in the National Mathematics Olympiad.

lHe was twice the recipient of the Born Mathematician award (given by the Ramanujan thSociety of Born Mathematicians) in 10 as well as the 12 class.

Pradeep Agarwal had always been deeply interested in solving mathematical puzzles. In early eighties,

when Rubiks cube puzzle was invented, its fever had gripped the entire world. Solving this puzzle was

considered to be a challenge which at that time only a very few in the world were able to solve. Pradeep

Agarwal, then only 16 years of age developed a unique method which helped him to solve the

great Rubiks cube puzzle in under 30 seconds. This had been his rare lifetime achievement.

During his college days at IIT Kanpur, he used to play Bridge and has been an ardent lover of the game. At

the age of 21 years, he had topped in the Bombay open Bridge tournament.

Pradeep Agarwal had done B.Tech from IIT Kanpur in year 1987 where he was among the top rankers.

Before pursuing his passion for teaching, he had worked with many multinational conglomerates such as

Larsen & Toubro, BPL, Hero Honda and General Motors where also, he gained expert level reputation

among fellow engineers and management. Since the year 2000, his full time work has been to guide

young students in a way that they understand the concepts with ease and apply them in real life

scenarios and in competitive exams.

As he had always been deeply interested in academics, he left the industry to devote his entire time to

HOW TO PREPARE FOR IIT

IDENTIFY YOUR STRENGTHYou must follow your passion and make a career in the area of your strength. Cracking IIT may not be

everyone’s cup of tea. If you are good at mathematics and have a logical reasoning and scientific bent

of mind, then you may be a candidate for IIT.

EVALUATION BEFORE STARTINGIn case you are not sure whether you will be able to cope with the required standards for IIT

preparation, you may go for an evaluation before you start. For this you may contact Pradeep

WHEN TO START PREPARATIONWhen it comes to IIT preparation, the earlier you start, the better. Though it may be alright to start in

th th thclass 11 , but I would personally recommend to start in class 9 or may be in class 8 which gives the

student a phenomenal edge over others. However, it is important to study at your own individual

pace while enjoying every moment of it.

IIT PREPARATION IS FUNBe relaxed and take it easy. If your approach and planning is proper, believe me, IIT preparation is

fun. What is required is your own conviction, motivation, professional guidance, simple tools for

solving problems fast and immediate clarification of doubts as they come. Be assured, you will enjoy

WORK SMARTER RATHER THAN JUST HARDERIt is the Quality over Quantity which is more important. Studying with concentration and analysing

the principles and concepts with a clear mind will bring in efficiency and you will be able achieve the

same targets in much less time.

SPEED AND ACCURACYYou must solve a problem correctly the very first time. There is no room for an error as this would

severely affect your rank. So, don’t rush and skip steps. (I shall separately deal with how to solve

problems fast and thus save time). Note that solving problems accurately becomes our habit which

can only be inculcated by practice. Accuracy can never be compromised with speed.

In today’s competitive world, cracking IIT is becoming increasingly difficult. Competition is increasing

day by day and to get an edge over ever-increasing competition, students in the race for IIT entrance

exam are starting early in lower classes.

It is seen that a student preparing for IIT is generally under tremendous stress and pressure. However,

if one prepares in a systematic and planned manner, the journey to IIT can be real fun. Based on my

experience in this field, I would like to offer some tips on how to crack IIT JEE (or JEE Advanced).

DIVIDE PREPARATION IN DIFFERENT LEVELSIt is always better to study with a step wise approach. Whenever you start a new chapter, first

complete the NCERT level including all derivations that may come in board exams, then practice all

problems of JEE Main level and finally practice all problems of JEE Advanced level. This will make you

feel more comfortable and you will be able to complete the chapter much faster and with more

confidence.

KEEP FORMULAE AND CONCEPTS HANDY FOR EASY REFERENCEI tell students not to put oneself under pressure in memorising formulae. Just keep them handy for

easy reference. As you keep practicing problems, you will experience that with continued usage of

formulae and concepts, they easily become your own property.

MAKE YOUR OWN SHORT NOTESThis is a very useful technique for many reasons. Firstly, making notes automatically brings in a lot of

concentration. Secondly, you generally write only after giving a sufficient thought and analysis. Finally,

these are your own notes. They help you in your quick revision.

DON’T COMPARE WITH OTHERS AND DON’T FOLLOW OTHERSConcentrate on your studies. Don’t worry about what others do and don’t get influenced by others.

body and mind the much needed break and relaxation.

ELIMINATE YOUR PERSONAL DISTRACTIONS AS YOU STUDYYou have already jumped into a mad competitive world; now you have to be religiously disciplined.

Though (as I have said before) the preparation for IIT is fun and the kick that you get out of solving

tough problems automatically makes you disciplined, but smart phones, social media like facebook,

etc. can be a big distraction. Remove them from your life, at least temporarily.

DO CONTINUOUS EFFORT AND MAKE IT A HABITPreparation for IIT requires continuous effort. Each subject must be given proper and regular time.

Some students find one subject more interesting and tend to spend more time on it while ignoring

others. All three subjects; Physics, Chemistry and Maths are equally important and none of them can

be ignored.

So, on a concluding note I would say that cracking JEE is not all that difficult. Just be sincere, dedicated

and smart. Success will be yours.
