PPPPPPPPRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRODUCT DESCRIPTIONThis new, innovative bundle is geared for Algebra 2 and PreCalculus students to use their reasoning skills along with their algebraic skills to find inverse algebraic functions. The cards are designed to reinforce the concepts taught in class. These cards along with the answer sheet can be used for group work, sorting, matching, or just finding the inverse functions. There is no mention of domains and ranges in this activity, nor graphs.

Included:12 cards with functions and 15 cards for the matching inverse functions.

8 blank cards for you to customize the product. 1 Student response sheet designed to be used with or without the cards.1 Student response sheet designed to be used without the cards as a matching activity

Functions include linear, quadratic, square root, cube root, and rational functions. All have inverses, however some may have limited domains. There are no exponential, logarithmic, or trigonometric functions. Depending upon your curriculum sequence, you can add these with the blank cards included.

There are many ways to vary the activity. Use as SORT, Matching, Centers, Group, or individually as worksheet or quiz.

Ideas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityIdeas for this ActivityFirst, print the cards card on card stock. If you print these out in black and white, you (or a helper student or child) can highlight the cards with a neon colored highlighter before laminating them.

Print a copy of the student answer sheet for each student. You can use the first twelve cards alone as traditional task cards or include the next fifteen for a matching activity with the cards. There are more inverse function cards (choices) than functions. You may want to eliminate the extra choices or leave them in for a matching activity so students won’t guess the last few. The function cards all have f(x) and are numbered, and the inverse cards have f-1(x) and are lettered, so they are easily distinguishable

Students can randomly pair up, work alone, or work in small groups. When students work in pairs or small groups, give as many task cards as there are students. This way they can help each other and work together. After a few minutes, depending upon the difficulty level and your experience, each group passes their cards to the next group.

You can use this activity package as an in class assignment or as homework. The first student response sheet would have the students find the inverses and write the answers, and the second sheet can be used as a matching assignment. Many possibilities with one product.

You may also set up math centers with these cards

Email me if there are any questions.
