Powers of the Unknown

I thought I was normal like everyone else, but today seemed different then all the others. I

was walking down the hall at my school Gloyd high school, then all of the sudden I heard a

voice say “I wonder what Ms. Lee is teaching in math today?”, but how could that be I mean I

was late to school and there was no one around.

“Where did that voice come from? I mean I didn’t say it and it also seemed like I was

only hearing it in my head.” I thought to myself. While thinking this I walk into my advisory and

I sit next to my friend Rachel who obviously wasn’t paying attention to anything the teacher was

saying. I sat there still thinking about the voice I heard in my head because I obviously wasn’t

thinking about Ms. Lee’s math class so it had to be someone else’s thought.

“Does this mean I can read minds?” I thought to myself.

Later at lunch I sit next to Rachel and say, “Hey Rachel I have something important to

tell you.”

“What is it?” she whispers.

“Well I think I can read minds!” I whisper back.

She yells, “Really!”

“Gosh Rachel you don’t need to tell the whole world.” I say quietly.

“Oh sorry, but I I have a power too!” she says in excitement.

“Oh really? Well what’s your power then?” I say.

“It’s nothing it just I can fly!” She says.

Later that day I went to Rachel’s house, we talked together for hours about what we are

going to do with our powers, and then all of the sudden Rachel’s brother Jordan walked in and

said, “What are you guys talking about?”

“Oh nothing really that you would be interested in.”, Rachel said

“Oh I’m interested.” Jordan said back.

“Oh we were just saying you should get a bra!” Rachel said laughing.

“Oh no you didn’t girlfriend!” Jordan says in a gay guy’s voice.

“Oh now you just proved it!” I say in return. Jordan looks at me with an angry face and

storms off.

“Well anyway back to what we were talking about.” I say.

“Oh yea! Wait what were we talking about Michelle?” Rachel says.

That night I lay in my bed wondering where my power came from. “Does this mean my

parents have powers too? Or is it just me? This is just too weird; if my parents have powers

wouldn’t they have told me? ”, I thought. Suddenly I feel something jump on me; it’s my dog

Ruby. “Wow Ruby you scared me, you got to stop doing that.” I say to my dog while she tilts her

head to the side in confusion. “Oh Ruby why can’t you just have powers that enable you to

talk?” I say to her while she looks at me with a confused face again.

The next day I was at school I notice another voice say, “Oh yeah today is Rachel and

Jordan’s birthday I wonder what I should get them.”

“Hey did I just hear someone’s thought again? Oh no that reminds me! I need to get

Rachel and Jordan a present!” I thought.

All a sudden Rachel walks up to me and says, “Hey Michelle, did you get anything for

me for my birthday?”

“No I’m sorry I didn’t get you anything yet.” I tell her.

“Oh that’s ok I mean It’s not easy to find a present for me anyway.” She says while

laughing.

“Oh ok well then I won’t worry about getting you anything then.” I say then I stick my

tongue out at her.

“No! You can just give me a gift card!” Rachel says with an upset voice.

“Ok then I will.” I say laughing.

“Well we should get to our advisory or we will be late.” Rachel says. So we get to our

advisory,

“Hey! Michelle and Rachel you’re late!”, Jordan says laughing at us while we sit down

in our seats.

“Thanks bro but we aren’t as stupid as you so we don’t need to be reminded!” Rachel

says in an angry voice.

Then suddenly I hear Jordan’s voice in my head say, “Wow Michelle looks cute today.”

Then I thought to myself, “I thought Jordan hated me.” Then I look at Jordan and I see

him smiling at me.

“This is so weird he always acted like he hated me. This is very odd I mean I have

known him for a long time and he never showed any signs of affection. This might be a bit of a

problem.” I thought.

Later that day I was at Rachel’s house which it seemed a little weird to be there because

of Jordan. Rachel says, “Michelle is something wrong?”

I say,”Well kind of.”

“Then what’s wrong?” she says.

“Well your brother Jordan likes me.” I whisper.

“How is that a bad thing? A lot of girls him and he chose you! It’s weird that he didn’t

tell me though because he usual tells me everything.” She says

“Well I heard him thinking that I’m cute earlier today with my mind reading power.” I

say.

“That’s weird because he never acted like he liked you.” Rachel says in confusion.

“I know right, but today he did!” I say.

“This is so confusing!” Rachel says in angry voice.

“Yeah it is.” I say.

“What are you going to do about it?” she questions.

“Well, I kind of like him back.” I say while blushing and then smile.

“Wow, wait! You do? Oh my god you guys would make a cute couple!” Rachel says.

“Really! You think so? I say excitedly.

“Yes weirdo why else would say that?” She says while laughing.

I sit there thinking; suddenly Jordan walks into Rachel’s room. “Oh crap what does he

want?” I thought.

He says, “Hey guys what’s up?” he says to us.

Rachel says, “Nothing; just talking.”

“About what?” He asks.

I sit there quietly so he doesn’t try to talk to me but it doesn’t work he talks to me

anyway. He says, “Michelle is something wrong because you can tell me anything.”

“No I’m ok, don’t worry about me.” I say in a quiet voice.

“Oh ok then.” He says while he walks out of the room.

“See he does can’t you tell?” I ask Rachel.

“Yeah kind of.” Rachel says.

Later, I leave Rachel’s room to get my bag from the TV room and on the way someone

grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side; it was Jordan! I was shocked, well kind of. He says,

“Michelle I really need to talk to you.”

“Oh ok talk to me then.” I say.

“Well this is hard to say but I really like you.” He says in a very quiet voice.

“I like you too Jordan.” I say while blushing.

“Wow you’re really blushing” He says and smiles.

“Yeah.” I giggle.

Then all of the sudden he kisses me. “Jordan we aren’t even dating yet and you already

kissed me isn’t that a little fast?” I ask.

“Well do you want to go out with me then?” He asks.

“Wow this all happened because of my powers? This is unbelievable. This was a great

ending to a great week and Jordan and I will be great together.
