Each year, our students, together with their parents and their teachers, are actively
engaged in celebrations related to European Day of Chocolate and learn about the
origins of cocoa and the first attempts to create this magic product that we know
today by the name of chocolate. Also, students find out about the ingredients that go
in the composition of chocolate and understand the nutritive benefits as well as the
side-effects of overeating it.
We get our students, from the youngest of them to the senior year ones, involved in
large scale activities. Also, Chocolate Day is celebrated nationally and our school is
extremely visible in our community on this special occasion.

CHOCOLATE DAY
Everybody knows how much young children adore chocolate but very few are aware of the
benefits it can bring but also about the health problems it can cause. The children will get the
chance to find out about the history of chocolate as well as less known information about this
dessert. They will decorate European countries shaped cookies with chocolate and coloured
confetti type sweets.
Aims of the activity:
getting the students to recognize the maps of different European countries by their borderline;
to cut cakes in the shape of certain European countries using templates to draw contours;
to name the ingredients they use;
to combine ingredients so as to give shape to a cake.

The students are divided in teams and will
choose the shape of a European country
and they will draw its contour on the sheet
of bread cake and then cut it accordingly.
The next step is for the students to fill the
cake and decorate it. As the students work,
chocolate related songs will be played.

SWEET SURPRISE BOX
Practical activities allow children to represent, translate into facts what they have seen, lived or
imagine, thus constituting a manifestation of their intellectual life. Materials made available to
children satisfy the need for knowledge, expression. Their imagination combines, invents, builds,
creates new things, responding to the interests and needs of children to act, which involves
meditation and organization. Searching for means, working procedures involves thinking,
selection.
Aims of the activity:
to help the child to understand and perceive beauty in the environment, in order to be himself a
creator of beautiful works;
the formation and consolidation of specific practical skills;
promoting and capitalizing on the work done by children in the community.

Students, organized by teams, will be documented, following PPT presentations on box-type
packaging to make the right selection of the right food packaging. The children will select six
boxes, which they will make from the materials made available. The stages of the technological
process will be covered in the order shown in the chart: measurement, patterning with patterns,
contour cutting, decoration by various techniques (painting, applying patterns by gluing, quilling,
origami etc.), folding, joining parts, filling the candy box and sealing it.

CHOCOLATE GIFTS
The volunteering activities organized by our school represent the student’s first step towards
increasing their abilities as young responsible adults interested in changing the world around
them.
Students will have the opportunity to share chocolate to the sick children who are treated at the
Saint Mary Children's Hospital. In this way they will bring joy and a smile to the children of the
departments of cardiology and orthopedics.
Aims of the activity:
involving students and teachers in volunteer activities;
the formation of charitable skills among students, parents and teachers;
initiating children in recognizing the various chocolates that can be eaten and children under
medical treatment;

All the activities were welcomed by pupils and teachers alike and exceeded
their expectations.
Our pupils enjoyed working in teams and expressed their interest in having
more such creative activities, as being part of a group really motivated them.
By implementing these activities we have managed to develop a higher sense
of identity and of belonging to a group or to a community.
Parents expressed their satisfaction with these activities, especially those we
personally took part in them.
