To complete the skill, you will need access to a computer with two monitors. To complete this presentation, you will need the following file: p10_Pandemic You will save your file as: Lastname_Firstname_p10_Pandemic_Snip 1. Start PowerPoint. From your student files, open p10_Pandemic. In Normal view, read the entire presentation and speaker’s notes. The speaker’s notes will not display in Slide Show view, but they contain important information. So that you can view the speaker’s notes while the audience views the slide, you will use Presenter view. 2. On the Slide Show tab, in the Monitors group, click Use Presenter View. If a Microsoft PowerPoint message displays, read the information, click Check, and then Close the Help message. 3. In the Control Panel window, under the Change the appearance of your display heading, click the Detect button as shown in Figure 1. 1. Start PowerPoint. From your student files, open p10_Pandemic. In Normal view, read theentire presentation and speaker’s notes.

4. Connect the second display if necessary. Please note, both monitor screens display blankscreens momentarily. In the Control Panel window, click the Multiple Displays button,and select Show desktop only on 1. Select the thumbnail preview of Monitor 1, click Apply,click Keep Changes, and then compare your screen with Figure 2.

The number 1 that displays on your screen indicates the main monitor and the one onwhich you can view the speaker’s notes.

5. Select the thumbnail preview of Monitor 2, and then click the Multiple Displays buttonand select Extend these displays. Compare your screen with Figure 3.

6. Click the Apply button, and then click Keep Changes.

7. Click Start, and then click All Programs. Click Accessories, and then click Snipping Tool.Click the New button arrow, and then click Window Snip. Click the title bar of theControl Panel window, click File, and then click Save. Save the Snip in your PowerPointChapter 10 folder as Lastname_Firstname_p10_Pandemic_Snip Close the Snipping Toolwindow, and return to PowerPoint.

8. Click OK and Close, and then click the Control Panel window.

9. With PowerPoint displayed on your main desktop, be sure that Use Presenter View is stillselected, and then press 5 to start the presentation from the beginning.

The presentation displays on two monitors, one in Slide Show view and one inPresenter view. Presenter view, shown in Figure 4, provides an easy way to navigatethrough your presentation.

10. End the show, and then Exit PowerPoint. Print or submit the Snip file electronically asdirected by your instructor.
