My current study:

Studying Fashion & Textiles has been an inspiring but challenging, most of all it has developed my skills ready for the Textile Print

World. I have been given the chance at trialing different techniques and

processes for Fashion and Textiles including; draping & toiling, pattern cutting, stitch techniques, screen

printing, operating heat beds, pleating and using disperse dyes. I decided to become more specialized with Textile print for Fashion and Interiors, as this is where I have a genuine interest and talent. I have also developed my writing skills by creating my own briefs and

in the form of a dissertation.

Industry set Brief working with Hill & Co September 2013 – January 2014

Hill & Co is a large, surface pattern and textile printing company. I worked to a brief the company had set for a range of rug designs and outdoors living products. I really found this interesting as we only had 6 weeks to create each range; I was designing and developing

my surface pattern ideas at a fast pace and to industry standard.

Teaching assistant with a group of SEN pupils. January 2014

I volunteered to help a group of hearing impaired pupils, the day focused on expressing yourself through mark making techniques, followed by projecting their images on to stands. I found through using facial expressions and hand actions I could explain the task to the students, this exercise really helped me understand the challenges and boundaries that can arise in teaching.

Teaching assistant at Caludon Castle Secondary School, Coventry. March 2013 – July 2013

I taught 13 to 16-year-old pupils about Graphic design, Textiles and 3D art.

In Graphic design I worked on a One-to-one basis with children that were struggling with their GSCE deadlines, giving guidance to improve design work and developing revision techniques in preparation for their exams. In Textile class I was working with two classes to teach basic sewing

skills, patter cutting and design development. In 3D art I helped pupils develop their skills showcasing different media, materials and

variations on project ideas. Throughout my time at Caludon Castle, I realised the importance of

independent learning and use of visual aids.
